I am glad to have participated in this project because it gave me new knowledge, experience and friends. I learned more on how to do good for the sake of our planet and this project has helped me to get out of my shell. I made new friends and I’m thankful for them being so friendly and welcoming to me and I am not lying when I say that those were probably the best 5 days of my life. Thank you for giving me a chance to be a part of the Erasmus family!

Feedback about the Erasmus + ‘’On the ark at 5 minutes to 12’’ mobility in Dormagen, Germany.	In May 2022 I had the chance to participate in an Erasmus + mobility in Dormagen, Germany in partnership with Norbert Gymnasium Knechtsteden and I would say that my experience was very positive. Each day of the trip was well-planned by the host school and on some days we had a lot of free time to explore the nearby cities of Cologne and Dusseldorf and to spend time with our host families.	On Sunday evening we received a warm welcome from our host families. The activities started on Monday. All of the participating countries gave presentations about their schools’ sustainability efforts. The most interesting part of the day, in my opinion, was a guided bike tour in the city of Cologne. We got to learn some information about the city’s history and see the beautiful historical buildings. On Tuesday we started our painting workshop. We were separated into mixed groups, and each had to create a painting about one of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. I really liked that we were in random groups, because I got to work with some smart and creative people. On this day we had free time in the afternoon during which me and some other girls from Germany, Romania and Latvia explored Dusseldorf. It turned out to be an interesting and very modern city. On Wednesday we finished our paintings and then visited Oberhausen where we saw an exhibition about environmental problems in an old Gasometer. I thought the exhibition was quite impactful and it made me think about humanity’s impact on the earth. Especially because the region of Germany that we visited is very densely populated. On Thursday we held an exhibition of our paintings in Norbert Gymnasium and got visited by the mayor of Dormagen. We spent our day in Dormagen and in the evening had a farewell party in the school. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to all our new friends. Friday, the day of our departure, arrived very quickly and we were all quite sad to have to say goodbye to our host families. We – the Latvian team spent our morning and afternoon in Dusseldorf and almost started planning our next trip to Germany.	Overall, I would say that this mobility was even better than I had expected. I made some new friends and got to enjoy the warm weather of Western Germany. I was very happy to be reunited with some people that I’d already met in Romania in 2019 as a part of this same project. Of course, I also gained some valuable knowledge about the UN’s 17 SDG’s and sustainability in general. Thank you to my peers from Latvia who I travelled with and our teachers – J. Strautmane and P. Ozols, because the trip wouldn’t have been the same without them! Of course, I also must thank the teachers from Germany who came up with the idea for this project in the first place and made sure that this mobility could take place.

Through the Erasmus project, I got the opportunity to make new experiences and share them with new friends. I have learned a lot about how we can protect our earth from our won exploitation. During the project time we learned about recycling, the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, alternative water sources, composting, insect decline, pollution of the Mediterranean Sea and food waste, among other things. Unfortunately, due to Corona, we were not able to travel to all countries as planned, but virtual meetings enabled us to work on all topics. As a result, we were still trained in terms of technology and were nevertheless in contact with the partner schools. The project also enabled me to learn about cultures and customs and how different they are in different countries. All in all, it was a good opportunity to learn about the well-being of our planet and to make new friends to keep in touch with after the end of the project.

Leandra, Germany

The Eramus+ project was a great experience overall. It was nice to speak to so many people from different countries and I also learned a lot of new things about sustainability and our world in general.

The creative aspects, such as painting or creating the videos were also something I really appreciated. Besides that, there was a good variety of activities and it never got boring! The exhibition in Oberhausen for example was very touching and I think that it made many of us reflect on our own actions and think about what we can improve in our everyday life.

I made some great new friends too and who knows, maybe we will see each other again one day. J I also think that this project would not have been possible without the collaboration of us students and the teachers. It is a great sign that something like this can happen, even in times like these. That and obviously the ecological aspects, is why this project is so important and I am glad that I could be a part of it.

Maya Schley, Germany

I really liked this Erasmus week here because we had so many different experiences. It was challenging to create a program for 4 days for someone who has never been to Germany that really shows the important aspects of the region here. Another big problem to get over was the communication. But I think it really helped my English skills to speak just English for 4 days. Something else special was talking to so many people from so many different countries and cultures. The drawing of the sustainability goals also created groups that were connected and worked with each other for three days. This helped get deeper connections and not just superficial talks. The sightseeing tour through Cologne on the first day also helped build the team and connect to other people. There were no times at which I felt stressed, but we had enough free time to do whatever we wanted and liked with our guests. I made some new friends, experienced loads of really interesting things and all in all just really enjoyed the week.

Luis Zabel, Germany

Initially I wasn’t supposed to take part in this project but after that spent week, I’m more than glad that I was part of it. At first I was scared that it would be weird if I join randomly throughout the project, also because everyone knew each other beforehand. But to my surprise it was the opposite. Without knowing anyone ( besides the people from my school ) I felt very comfortable. Everyone was very welcoming and kind, which I really appreciated. I got to know so many different people who I think will also stay my friends in the long run. This project also gave me a chance to deal more with the problems on our earth and have a clearer image on what we still need to improve and also what we can do to help. Thank you for this memorable week! - Victoria from Germany

The Erasmus project will stay in my mind forever. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to get in contact with all the students from the different countries and to feel this great community.

For me, this has been the most important and valuable objective of this project. To get to know other students from other countries and to learn more about their way of living. I must confess I was quite nervous travelling to Romania in 2019 being 13 years old at that time. But arriving there and receiving a warm welcome made it an ultimately and utmost, unforgettable experience for me.

It was great to experience how fast we established a team atmosphere and were able to work and have fun together. Everybody immediately felt welcome – everybody was welcome.

Apart from this team experience I learned a lot about our planet and potential ways how to save it. We had a lot of good discussions in our work groups. It was not unexpected but still interesting to realize that the students from the different countries had different views on the environmental topics and everybody brought their view into the discussions.

This project was the perfect mix of theory and real life. Throughout the weeks we worked on environmental related subjects, combined it with several excursions in the nature and enjoyed our leisure time together. We made campfires, ate typical Romanian food and climbed up the 533 steps to the top of the Cologne cathedral - only to name some of the occasions we had a lot of fun together.

Overall, I am so glad I had the chance to participate in the Erasmus project. I can say, I did not just meet other students, I made new friends in this project. I improved my English skills a lot and sustainability has become an implicit part of my way of thinking from now on.

-Mats Bäcker, Germany

This project will forever stay in my mind. Not only because I learned so much, because of the people that I met.

My journey with this project startet in october 200? when I flew to Rumänia. This journey was so crazy, beautifull and exciting that I still remember everything as like I would have been last week there. I met so many people and got to know their culture, that is so different than ours. I learned a lot about water, where it comes from and how to consume it in an environment friendly way.

During the corona pandemy I learned a lot with the German Team together about nature and how to protect her. I use a lot of that knowledge in my freetime and at home and try to help the nature everywhere I can.

Last week the teams from the other countries came to Germany. It was one of the best experiences in my life! My friend and me from Germany made so many new friends, especially with the Rumänia and Italy guys. We learned so much about the 17 sustainable development goals. Now we try to do our best to let those goals come true.

I am so thankfull that I got the opportunity to be part of this project! I hope many other students will get this opportunity and can experience how great it is to be part of such an amazing international family.

Eva Götzelmann, Germany

So, I signed up and got chosen to work on the Erasmus+Project.

First stop of our Ark: Romania. I was not there but during the online exchanges during the lockdown times while Covid 19 pandemic, I just found good friends there too.

2020-	The pandemic did not allow us to travel! So, we decide to meet our partners via Teams.

2021- Pandemic goes on! We were still not allowed to travel but we as students communicated easily over chat-apps.

2022- Now it went interesting! We are allowed to travel again!!! First a group of students with their teachers were sent to Latvia. Second another group, me included, were sent to Pland, Cracow. Where I made friendships that will hold hopefully for ever.

I learned a lot about speaking English in multiple situations which made a lot of fun. Also, I get more knowledge about the other cultures what will help me in future situations to decide wisely. There are already plans made to meet each other again and to communicate up into the far future.

I made good friends in Romania in Poland in Latvia, Norway and in Italy.

All in all, I am so grateful that it was possible for me to made so much precious experience that I will never forget in my entire life

Felix Reichenbach, Germany

Last week I participated in the Erasmus + project. I was the host of a cute Italian girl. Elena is such a great person and we got along so well. At the first day, we had difficulties with communicating in English. But we were trying, and we were not scared of making mistakes in front of each other. I really enjoyed getting to know stuff about Italy from a native Italian. Generally, the Italians were really open-minded, and I loved their mentality. I liked talking with them because we were always laughing together and making jokes. My Italian curse word knowledge has become excellent. I cannot express how grateful I am for the opportunity. I found new friends, not only with the people from the other countries but also new friends from our German group. The atmosphere was genius, and everyone seemed happy. Me and my friends, who also participated in the exchange, agreed to come visit our new friends in Italy and Rumania. It was such a great time, and I would do it anytime again. – Esther from Germany

Esther Heerstraßen, Germany

I remember when I applied for the Erasmus + project in 2019. I was really excited at that time and was really happy to be accepted. Now, in 2022, it's unfortunately over. But this adventure which I was allowed to experience, I will never forget. 6 different countries that have the chance to meet each other, exchange ideas and do something together for our environment, against climate change. All our subprojects, insect protection, composting and food waste and many more made me realize how we as students can do something for the environment ourselves. I was able to develop an enormous environmental awareness. When I traveled to Poland this year, I was also able to meet the other students in person for the first time. It was great and despite the different origins, an incredible sense of community developed between us. I was able to explore Krakow and experience Poland for a week. And then, the crowning finale here in Germany. It was a great experience for me to host a student from Latvia. I think we all could only grow from it. I learned a lot about Latvia, but also about the other countries. Together the workshops organized by Mrs. Neuwöhner were a lot of fun and new friendships for the future could develop.

Despite Corona, which put so many building blocks in our way, it was a great success. I think every single participant will always remember it and think back to so many beautiful moments.

From these 3 years I have learned a lot about our wrong behavior towards the environment, but also how we can change this. I was able to visit and get to know other countries and make friends for life.

A wonderful time.
Feedback about Germany Erasmus+ We started the trip by taking the plane in Riga’s International Airport to Düsseldorf Airport in Germany. Our host families picked us up from there and took us home in the evening on the 8th of May. My host’s family welcomed me with a large amount of vegetables and meat so we could cook different kinds of typical European dishes all together. On the second day of arrival, we went on a bike tour all together around Cologne and each of the countries students presented their school’s benefits and the ways in which it supports a green lifestyle. The city guide told us a lot about the history of Cologne and my favorite part of this trip was the cathedral of Cologne. It was very old but extremely detailed! We have to know students from Poland, Germany, Norway, Italy and Romania who were very talkative and open to communicate. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we were taught about the Sustainable Development Goals so we were divided in groups of 3 to make a video about it and paint our ideas of the given goal on an easel. The paintings were very different and each of them had a unique style of art! The last day in Norbert-Gymnasium Knechtsteden Kath we had to present our paintigs and explain what was the idea of our artpiece. Overall, each day after school we spent a lot of time with our German friends or with teachers so we even went on a city tour to Dormagen, Düsseldorf and Cologne! It was very warm and sunny the whole week and the school had a lot of nature around it, even a nature reserve and a church! Everything about this trip was such an amazing experience and all of us Latvians got new friends especially from Germany! Everything was lovely. The knowledge about different buildings in cities, the atmosphere in the school and my lovely positive German, Polish and Romanian friends made this trip even better. A big thanks to everyone!
