Which tool(s) you found most useful/engaging and believe you’ll use again in the future with your classes?

The course was a first step into the vast range of teaching and learning tools available. Being aware of this variety within the background of the teaching content which is to be presented in an EAP class and how to best implement it, this will mean that a rigorous process of making more informed choice about which of the many tools are actually going to be used. A very enviable position to be in ...

It seems to be a valid approach to reflect on the IT needed with each specific group because some tools can be better used if, say, all students have IT access rather than only their phones. So even though I would like to use Google docs more, it would depend on the IT for students working with me (and not all have or will reliably bring their laptops to class). The question about using the phone in class or not is possibly an eternal one: very useful to read the pros and cons. So the tool that I have implemented in my teaching is -after having used Quizlet, the original - for many years, Quizlet LIVE. Students use it happily as a team-building group warm-up which ALWAYS works well.

What have you learnt about using technology in the classroom and how will this change your classroom practice?

I have used the more conventional tools like Blackboard, Unilearn and now Brightspace, TED talks and other academic English learning and teaching websites as well as newspaper and revision Apps for tutorials such as Getrevising.
Change - the one constant presence in teaching - is perhaps too strong a term to be used, maybe this course has contributed to me being a little bit more daring about trying out new apps/teaching tools after reflecting about a suitable purpose in the classroom.

Browzine has been a considerable help, linking the app to the available journals meant that students can more easily navigate their individual reading lists on their own digital bookshelves. Ideas for this summer's pre-sessionals: the Corpus module on vocabulary learning will be to some extent like using Wordnik incorporated into the introduction into academic studies and learning of word lists.
https://browzine.com/libraries/491/subjects/66?sort=title

What areas or questions about technology would you like to explore in the future?

This course was like an "amuse-guele": trying out the full menu (using a different IT tool with a reasonable amount of confidence each week) would have been preferable, but conceivably within some scenarios, this might have been too time-consuming given the constraints of the teaching syllabus. Explorations for the future: a master-class of best practice teaching with selected IT tools directly related to the four assessment skills (Academic listening with note-taking, Reading, Writing and Seminar/Presentations). Or a digital questions and answers box where all IT tools related questions can be asked and are answered by the specialists.
