Emotionally, I felt very disappointed in myself because I couldn’t finish my Paper 1 on time (60 minutes max) and I did not achieve the goal of writing it analytically. When writing, I could only finish three paragraphs, though ideally, I should have written five. And out of the five points for the analytical strand on the rubric, I only earned one point which means that I barely demonstrated any relevant analysis. For the group presentation, I felt slightly distressed because I could have done a lot better on the group presentation by using better diction and by giving more detailed and specific context to help the audiences understand the poster. Intellectually, I agree with the comments that I got because I think they address the flaws found in my work (grammar errors, word choice, and ideas) clearly and honestly. My main takeaway from the feedback is that when analyzing a propaganda poster it is extremely necessary to place it into a broader context. It is also important to analyze every detail as it can possibly address relevant details related to the poster. In addition, I learned that the rubric has a high standard, and to achieve higher points it is vital to either include more analysis of various subjects or to generate deeper understanding. According to my grades, I believe that my strength is on the language strands and my weakness is mainly on my analysis. In order to do better on future Paper 1 tests and presentations, I will read the rubric more thoroughly and analyze similar texts/posters before the final assessment to practice. Yet, I am still somewhat concerned about my skill level and would like to improve on my writing speed and analytical skills.
