Summary of the novel: The novel is about El gato's life and how he became one of the best soccer players. It talks about how he was a really bad player at first and he left the team, but in his own time he began to practice and he never gave up because everything is possible. Until he was able to win the world cup to like show that he could do it, and after he has accomplished that goal he decides to retire from playing soccer and decides to become a conservationist. Also he decides to write a book and in the novel it shows us that he does not give up and keeps trying even if it is hard.

A phrase from the novel:" Gato said, 'The reasons, the ones I want known, are in the letter. But you've answered your own question, Paul. Yes I've got years left in me. I've got a life ahead of me, God willing, and I want to do something with it. Something more important than soccer.' " (Page 212)

I like the novel because it shows how he got to where he wanted to be  and how it it is not an easy path , but nothing is easy it is just a matter of actually trying and not giving up. About how he comes from a family that the man always grew up to be a logger, but he changed the story and became something better.
