Those two genres are very different but they usually have the same theme in the lyrics which is love and relationships. When Americans hear the genre “country” their mind immediately goes to the southern half of the country. And when Americans hear the genre “pop/hip hop” they think of the younger generations and urban locations. The music "country" it identifies the American culture. Country can be very patriotic and can be about one of the most valued concepts to humans, love. The pop/hip hop, it’s popular in generation younger and most of the pop/hip hop songs that are produced in America are very popular around the world as well. 
            As to as Colombia its can say that is a country with many types of genres of music. The more popular ones are the Vallenato and Cumbia. These genres are more popular in this country and helps to Colombians identify. It is pertinent to clarify that in Colombia, each region has their own representative genre. For example, in the Savannah the genre Porro is very popular and in the plains the genre Joropo is very popular. But the genre that represents the country in general is the Vallenato and Cumbia.
