we discussed about our adab with parents, neighbours and society. We also do bits of quiz. Here what I learnt from the session.

Adab with parents requires showing them respect, obedience, and kindness. We should speak to them gently, care for them, and pray for their well-being, both in life and in the hereafter. Seeking their blessings is important, as their redha leads to Allah’s redha.

Adab with neighbours involves being kind, helpful, and considerate. We must avoid causing harm, respect their privacy, and foster good relations through sharing and patience. We must concern about the well- being of our neighbour and help them if they need help.

In society, good manners include honesty, trustworthiness, and avoiding harmful speech like backbiting. Greeting others warmly, helping those in need, following laws, and maintaining cleanliness are also part of Islamic etiquette. Practicing these values strengthens relationships and promotes harmony in life.

We also share our experience and methods to build stronger ukhuwwah within the society.

They did the tasks on time, follow the rules given and ask me questions they don't understand.

I'm very lucky to be assigned with such great teammates. We learnt a lot of new things together, from different perspectives and I hope that we are able to create more memories together in the upcoming semester. ❤️

I also hope that they did the same and talk more, to make our meeting more fun. I should also prepare the materials better, in a way that they could understand better. More fun and games should be done to break the tension that still lingers between us. All in all, I think there is alot of me to improve in order to create a better atmosphere and teamwork between us. 💕

This is the first week, we had a wonderful time getting to know each other!

We learned and shared experiences about hikmah. We are familiar with the thought that hikmah is the silver lining that comes after tests, but it is so much more than that! In Islam, hikmah is a gift from Allah. It helps a person:

Understand things deeply, not just on the surface

Make good decisions

Speak and act kindly and fairly

Solve problems calmly and wisely

Next, we learned about the importance of keeping your niyyah pure in everything you do. We shared each other's ambition and explained the niyyah we set for in order to gain Allah's pleasure and victory both in dunya wa akhirah.

After that, we learned about amal. In Islam, amal refers to the practice of performing good deeds and acts of worship. Hence, we talk about our efforts and hikmah behind all the deeds in the pillars of Islam we practiced.

Last but not least, we also share our insights and opinions on Ehsan. Ehsan is important in making sure that everything we work for are done with excellence in order to be successful and fair to others, and ourselves

In our session, we dived deep into khusyuk’ — and honestly, this was the part that really made us reflect.

So, what is khusyu’?
It’s not a pillar (rukun) of prayer, but it’s what gives solat its soul. We learned that khusyu' means praying with:

Focus

Calmness

Humility

And most importantly, awareness that we’re talking directly to Allah

It’s not just about standing and reciting — it’s about feeling the prayer.

We discussed simple but powerful steps:

Understand what we’re reciting

Pray on time — delays = distractions

Make proper wuduk

Here’s where it gets beautiful:

Khusyuk' is a mirror of your heart — the state of your prayer often reflects the state of your soul

It trains us in discipline, mindfulness, and emotional control

It’s also protection — the Qur’an says, “Indeed, successful are the believers.

So we had our presentation on the virtues you gain through salah with khusyu’ — and Alhamdulillah, it went really well! We broke it down into five powerful values that shape your character.

Taat - We learned that true khusyu’ starts with taat. It’s more than just obeying — it’s about surrendering.

Jihad - Salah is a form of jihad. Not the physical fight, but the internal battle. Staying focused, resisting distraction, fighting laziness, or was-was, that's all part of it. Praying with khusyu’ is a daily act of resilience.

Muhasabah - Prayer gives space to pause and reflect/muhasabah. We ask ourselves: "How's my relationship with Allah?” Khusyu’ lets us check in with our soul. Without that presence, we just go through the motions.

Iffah - Iffah is a quiet strength, pulling yourself away from what’s wrong, not just because you’re told to, but because your heart says no.

Tawaddu' - Sujud, for example, is tawadduʿ in action. No pride, no ego. Just you, broken and honest before your Creator.

We also had our presentation on the virtues found in sawm, and Alhamdulillah, it went well too! We became closer and got to know each other better. Here's a recap:

Sabr - Fasting trains our patience. With hunger, with people, with our own impulses. It’s a full-day reminder that we can hold back and stay calm, even when it’s tough.

Takrim - When we fast, we naturally become more mindful of our words, our actions, and how we treat others. It nurtures that inner dignity and teaches us to show respect not just to others, but to the ibadah itself.

Rahmah - Hunger softens the heart. Fasting reminds us of others’ struggles and builds empathy. You feel more compassionate and more willing to smile, forgive, and give.

In our session on Hajj and ʿUmrah, we watched some powerful videos showing how the rituals are done — and honestly, it was moving. It’s not just a trip — it’s a journey of the heart.

Al-Tadhiyyah - sacrifice

From leaving home to walking under the hot sun, the Hajj is full of sacrifice. It reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s story — letting go of what you love most for Allah. Whether it’s money, comfort, or time, Hajj teaches us: true love means we are willing to sacrifice, even the things we love the most.

Taqwa - God-consciousness

Everything in Hajj pulls you closer to Allah. The clothes (ihram), the tawaf, the du’a at Arafah. You’re in constant awareness that Allah is near, watching and listening. That’s taqwa in action — living every moment for Him.

Week 2: Reasons and Sources of hikmah from ibadah

For this session, we created posters to highlight the wisdom (hikmah) behind each main act of worship, supported by Qur’anic verses. The goal was to understand that these acts aren’t just rituals — they transform character and bring us closer to Allah.

Salah – Surah Al-ʿAnkabūt (29:45)
"Indeed, prayer restrains from immorality and wrongdoing."
This verse shows that ṣalāh isn’t just physical movement — it’s a shield. When done properly, it builds discipline and keeps us from actions that displease Allah.

Sawm – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183)
"Fasting is prescribed... so that you may attain taqwā."
Fasting is about more than hunger — it's training for the soul. It teaches us self-restraint and makes us more aware of Allah in everything we do.

Zakat – Surah Al-Tawbah (9:103)
"Take from their wealth a charity... to purify and cleanse them."
Zakat purifies wealth, but also the heart. It reminds us that giving is not losing — it's a way to cleanse ourselves from greed and grow in compassion.

Hajj – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197)
"...And whatever good you do – Allah knows it. And take provisions, but the best provision is taqwā."
Ḥajj is a journey of sacrifice and remembrance. It teaches patience, humility, and the importance of preparing our hearts with taqwā — the real provision that matters.

For the second time being an usrah facilitator, I believe I've improved my skills in arranging the sessions and engaging in better communication. We learn from each other a lot, shared experiences. I made a lot of new friends. For improvement, I wish to organize better activities (if I had the opportunity to become a facilitator in Gombak), get along with the members with zero awkwardness, and maybe keep in contact even after the usrah ends. All in all, I had so much fun discussing various topics with them. They're all so supportive and vocal about their opinion. I hope that we can apply the knowledge we learnt throughout the semester in our life, and be devoted muslim to gain Allah's pleasure both in dunya wa akhirah (❁´◡`❁)
