That was an area of focus based on our CCI. We are conducting walk throughs to focus on using AVID instructional strategies. We have hosted a career panel and will be conducting other activities throughout the year. Finding time for site team to meet has been challenging since teachers are overwhelmed. I find myself dreading this time of class now. I am also torn a bit with the price of college and many of my students not getting a lot of aid (last year, knowing this year will be similar).  My counselors really push students (even those with high GPAs) to just got to CC since it is "free".

The two of us who teach it this year are on temp contracts (again) and might not be at our school or in the district in a year. It's hard to build a program under those conditions. On top of that meeting and collaborating with my AVID colleague has also been a challenge because we are in different departments and don't get PLC time to meet with one another.

Positive - I love my colleague. He was an AVID student, tutor and now teacher. He's great and we are building a good culture in our classes.
