Baba Marta (directly translated - granny March) is a Bulgarian celebration on 1 March. On this day, people wear and give to the other close people red and white coloured bands called "martenitsi". At the end of the day, they remove the handbands and put them on trees. I like the day, it might not be a free day but it just feels more positive.

There are a lot of food traditions that everyone does. Fun stuff are also included in the activities, for example most Bulgarian people do traditional dances. In most of countries, they celebrate New years on different times because of time zones. When you go in town you can see a lot of fireworks. We enjoy New year.

Kukeri is a divinity personifying fecundity. In Bulgaria, a ritual spectacle of spring (a sort of carnival) takes place after a scenario of folk theatre, in which Kuker's role is interpreted by a man attired in a sheep- or goat-pelt, wearing a horned mask. Closely related traditions are found throughout the Balkans.
