K - What I Know

According to what I understand, reason is the cause of an individual's actions. Reason can influence one's thoughts, behavior, and actions in a certain circumstance. For the word impartiality in my understanding, impartiality involves having an equal judgment. Being impartial does not favor one individual over another. It is treating everything and everyone fairly. (Alcazar)

Based on my understanding of reason and impartiality in ethics, it is more about the way we think and decide that involves our ethics. (Untalan)

Reason and impartiality in ethics are important concepts that help us make fair and logical decisions about what is right and wrong. (De Guzman)

Based on my own understanding, reason and impartiality are about using reason and logic to justify ethical decisions while treating both sides equally or simply without any bias. (Tarectecan)

Ethics is the study of how our choices and actions reflect on our values (Esmeria)

W - What I Want To Know

What I'm interested in learning about is the impact that reason and impartiality have on our day-to-day existence. We are familiar with the concept, but we would like to grasp its more comprehensive meaning, what it actually means in our lives, and how crucial it is that we understand it. (Alcazar)

I want to know a deeper meaning of how ethics is needed when it comes to our decision-making and how it affects our logical reasoning. (Untalan)

Explore moral dilemmas examining how philosophers like Kant approach decision-making based on reason and fairness. Understand how impartiality can conflict with personal values and cultural perceptions of fairness and justice. (De Guzman)

I want to learn more about Ethics specifically in terms of applying reason and impartiality in our daily lives and see how it is crucial for us to learn it. (Tarectecan)

I’m curious about different ways to think about moral issues and how I can apply them in reality. (Esmeria)

L - What I Learned

My main conclusions regarding impartiality and reason are that we should always act fairly in life. Similar to the previous example, some wealthy students were admitted to the University of the Philippines since their education was of a higher caliber than that of the impoverished. They can employ a tutor. In order for everyone to have equitable access to education, it is critical that we promote justice in daily life. This would be the justification for our government to increase funding for education so that everyone can access it. Everyone is entitled to high-quality education. (Alcazar)

I learned that reason and impartiality have a big impact on our life and how we make decisions. Knowing whether to apply subjective and objective perspectives, depending on the circumstance. It is crucial for future teachers in making decisions, but ethics also plays a vital role in guiding those decisions. This lesson has deepened my understanding of how to balance logical thinking with ethical considerations in my interactions with future students and in my work also. (Untalan)

In our lesson on impartiality and reason, we discovered that reason is the capacity to make decisions based on facts rather than feelings or preconceived notions. Reasonings enable us to make well-informed decisions and come to a resolution. In the meantime, impartiality is a moral requirement for justice. The foundation for well-informed and deliberate decision-making is impartiality combined with reason. (De Guzman)

I have learned the importance of reason in analyzing situations or actions and determining their consequences. Reason ensures that any judgment is reasonable and supported objectively. On the other hand, impartiality tackles fairness and equality to avoid the risks of biases and discrimination. It is crucial to be well-informed and fully understand the concepts of reason and impartiality for us to apply them in our daily lives. Just like with the documentary about gypsy's case, I looked at it equally and objectively so that before any judgments we make, we should consider weighing both sides to avoid the possibility of any prejudice. (Tarectecan)

It means treating all parties or viewpoints equally without allowing personal feelings, preferences, or prejudices to influence outcomes. Indicity is essential in various fields, such as law, journalism, and research, where fairness and objectivity are critical to maintaining credibility and trust, meaning to say that this is mostly based on facts rather than opinions (Santos, Mhecaella). Reason, on the other hand, is thinking based on logic to make a decision from proofs and clear opinions (Gabriel, Jazmine). It includes precisely evaluating evidence, analyzing existing facts, and considering different perspectives to conclude a well-rounded solution (Francisco, Francine). Using logical thought processes, having reason makes sure that decisions are solid in rationality and objectivity. In this way, it helps to avoid impulsive judgments and promotes fair, thoughtful decision-making. In conclusion, reasoning can help us to be more impartial (Tunday, Dwife Josef). By carefully considering all perspectives, evidence, and potential consequences, we can reduce the influence of our own biases and prejudices (Ampongan, Rechelle).

• W- what we WANT to learn

What are the different types of reasoning, and how can they be applied to making decisions? (Santos, Mhecaella), and how can we effectively maintain impartiality in reasoning to reach fair and well-rounded conclusions when dealing with complex decision-making situations? (Gabriel, Jazmine & Francisco, Francine) and also to expound our existing knowledge about the differences and the correlation of reasoning and impartiality to further improve our perspectives regarding the two different topics (Tunday, Dwife). To also know the deeper meaning of the two things (Ampongan, Rechelle). Also, why are reasoning and impartiality important in our daily lives (Flores, Aishanna)?

• L- what we've LEARNED

I've learned that impartiality entails remaining objective and evaluating all relevant perspectives fairly, ensuring that personal preferences do not sway judgment. Reasoning is the logical process of examining information and drawing conclusions using deductive or inductive methods. Impartiality is essential for sound thinking because it avoids prejudice from impacting outcomes and supports fair decision-making (Gabriel, Jazmine).

- I've learned about the different deeper meanings of reason and impartiality, especially the integration and importance of the two things, because it avoids negative thoughts when you are being factual and unbiased at the same time (Tunday, Dwife).

I've learned that impartiality entails remaining objective and evaluating all relevant perspectives fairly, ensuring that personal preferences do not sway judgment. And in terms of reasoning it is process of using logic and evidence to make sense of things and to solve problem. They work together because reasoning helps us be impartial. When we reason, we rely on evidence and logic, which helps us avoid biases and make fair decisions. Also impartiality helps us reason effectively. If we are impartial, we are more likely to consider all sides of an issue and use evidence objectively, leading to better reasoning. In essence, reasoning is the tool we use to be impartial, allowing us to make fair judgments and solve problems in a way that is not swayed by personal biases. (Reyes)

What I know about impartiality is that it is the act of separating your personal emotional response to a particular situation from a decision or moral judgment that you will make. (Danao)

L – What I Learned

Reason in ethics involves using logic and consistency to make moral judgments, while impartiality requires treating all individuals' interests equally. Both are crucial for fair and just ethical decisions. Many ethical theories, like Kantianism and Utilitarianism, emphasize these principles for moral reasoning. (Reyes)

I realized that reasons and impartiality are really important in ethics. "Reasons" helps us grasp moral dilemmas, while "impartiality" assures that everyone is treated fairly. This is extremely essential because it creates a balanced framework for addressing moral challenges. (Danao)

What I gained from the conversation is the necessity of reason and impartiality. Reason is vital for us to make a factual and considered decision, and impartiality is one of the most important aspects of making a decision to ensure equality in various ways. Furthermore, fairness improves our world because acknowledging others as persons demonstrates empathy and concern.(Escritor)

Validate someone else feelings is to accept that they feel the way they do without trying to use logic to dismiss or deny or change their minds. For example someone said to that they are sad today but you will answer that they shouldn't be because they life are so great. The main misunderstanding here is that validating feelings is not the same thing as validating ideas there are many ideas that do not need or deserve to validated but everyones feelings deserve to be seen and acknowledged and respected. (CATAINA)

I have learned in this Week discussion how Reasons and Impartiality works in our life, in our daily lives to be specific as it is connected in our decision-making. The two are connected to have fair, rational, neutral and equity actions. It reflects how our actions are considered to avoid being biased, have favoritism and let our emotions control us. All of our actions has consequences, so we need to think and act rationally and logically. (Ferrer)

It delves into how individuals should behave and seeks to define the right conduct and a good life. I recognize the significance of incorporating ethical behaviors into decision making, especially when it comes to reasons and impartiality. It's crucial to thoroughly consider the relevant facts, explore all possible options, and ensure that the best choice is made for everyone involved(JOVER)

W - What I Want to Know

We want to know and have an in-depth understanding on how reason and impartiality are related to our course ethics. (Go)

We are curious about how reasons and impartiality work together in ethical decision-making. (Juanillo)

We are interested to know how we can balance personal reasons with the need to remain impartial (Juanillo)

We want to learn more about how reasoning and objectivity influence the choices we make on a daily basis.(Diaz)

We are intrigued how impartial judgment is influenced by reason (Antonio)

In line with my understanding about the reasons and impartiality of ethics, what I really wanna know about is How do we determine the right conduct and right decision? In other words, what makes a right conduct and right decision right?

Is there any decision that we can consider as the “perfect decision?” if so, what is the best way to attain it?(JOVER)

L - What I Have Learned

What I've learned from our lessons today are the fundamental concepts of ethics. Having a solid foundation in reason and impartiality is crucial for making well-informed decisions. I've come to understand the significance of ethical principles in decision-making. These principles serve as a valuable guide for making sound decisions, especially considering that people have different approaches to decision-making. It is important to differentiate between personal feelings and universal moral values. This approach guarantees that our assessments are based on solid information and can be supported with strong arguments. Additionally, it is also important to consider impartiality in decision making, to make sure the fair treatment of everyone's interests in moral assessments, preventing favoritism and bias to ensure fairness in ethical judgment (JOVER)

I was able to have a deeper understanding of what the reason and impartiality truly mean. Reason is a cognitive ability that will help us and that we need to identify the reason before the judgment of an action. While impartiality is having fairness for us to avoid biases, it also plays an important role because society has different perspectives and biases, helping to avoid one-sided or biased decisions. (Go)

My insight about the lesson of reason and impartiality in ethics is that they work together to ensure that our decisions are both logical and fair. Reason helps us analyze situations, making sure that our choices are supported by solid evidence and rational thinking. while, Impartiality, prevents favoritism or bias from influencing our decisions, ensuring that all individuals involved are treated equally. By combining these two elements, ethical decision-making becomes more balanced and fair, as it respects both the side of judgment and the moral need for fairness across all individuals. This approach not only strengthens the ethical framework of decisions but also builds trust and fairness in how we address moral dilemmas. (Diaz)

Reason lays the foundation for impartiality by encouraging decisions to be made based on facts rather than feelings or biases. This approach aids in the evaluation of situations by encouraging critical thinking and objective analysis, free from the influence of personal biases or emotional reactions. By applying logic and evidence, we may make fair and just decisions by ensuring that assessments are founded on facts rather than subjective opinions. Ultimately, this commitment to reason fosters a more equitable society where disagreements and discussions are grounded in accepted facts and reasoned arguments rather than divisive feelings or preconceived notions. In this way, reason serves as both a basis for collective decision-making and a means of achieving personal comprehension. (Antonio)

(Diocareza)

How does reasoning contribute to impartiality in decision making? (Adino)

(What I LEARNED)

In today’s session this helped me realize and taught me things. Reason is something that can help us determine issues, justify decisions, and examine the information. Reason should be based on logic and not be interfered by emotions to make better decisions. While, impartiality allows us to be fair, as much as possible consider all the factors to be fair. With this, we can prevent biases and favoritisms. I also learned that combining these two concepts help us solve moral dilemmas. Moreover, I also learned the challenges in impartiality and how the 7 step moral reasoning model works. Lastly, what I have learned this session may help us in dealing with real life scenarios that we might encounter someday. (Maputol)

Reason plays a crucial role in moral judgments by ensuring that they are well-informed and defensible, balancing subjective feelings with objective moral principles. Impartiality is essential because our inherent biases and personal perspectives can cloud judgment, making it important to strive for neutrality to promote fairness. While reason helps us navigate complex moral issues, impartiality ensures that ethical judgments consider the interests of all parties involved. Together, they create a balanced ethical framework for resolving moral dilemmas. However, achieving impartiality is challenging due to our own interests and human emotions, which are inevitably intertwined in moral decision-making. (Bato)

We have to wise when we have to decide for something, once we made our decision it has a big impact to our lives, sometimes the impact last for a very long time. we should always think about it multiple times before making a decision. And reasoning sometimes we don't think about what will happen next we just make a reason nor a decision regardless of everyone's around us opinion. We're just being selfish sometimes but there's nothing wrong when we only think ourselves. And we have decision making, we should think aboout everyone regardless to the gender, religion, opinion and beliefs. For the world peace we always dream of, we should start it within ourselves so that, we encourage more people to do that so (Baluya)

I've discovered that impartiality and reason are important aspects in moral decision-making. In order to be rational, people must base their judgments on reason and objective analysis rather than their feelings, preferences, or biases. It encourages consistency, ensuring that moral standards are followed consistently in similar situations. However, ensures that moral judgments are made impartially and without bias. It demands that all perspectives and interests be given equal attention, regardless of their social standing or personal connections. By preventing people from giving their own interests or the interests of those close to them unfair consideration, impartiality fosters justice. Reason and impartiality combine to support moral judgments that are reasonable and equitable, enabling a more equitable and logical approach to morality. By comprehending and putting these ideas into action, you can make choices that are more based on justice, reason, and consistency, which will lead to more moral results in a variety of circumstances. (Diocareza)

Every decision has consequences, if we don't think right, it would lead us to some disaster. In each decision we would make, we shouldn't just act or be carefree. We should think about what we're going to do and the relevance of the decision we would and conduct and of course we should think ahead of the outcome of the decision. Reason helps us to gather motives to conduct one action and sometimes we just blame and make a reason on some decisions we made to justify it. These two do have a big role in our life and it's necessary to determine this because our life and decisions circulate around this. (Estrella)

Think about any prior knowledge, facts, or experiences you have related to the subject. This helps activate your background knowledge and get you ready to learn.

-All humans has not only a feelings, we have a reason to make an decision, an action. Impartiality inspire a equality of all rivals.

-Reason refers to the use of logic, critical thinking, and rational analysis in evaluating moral issues.

-Every feeling that we feel has a reason and it is up to us to decide if we follow it.

-The capacity to understand and assess, known as reason, is valuable because it allows one to draw inferences from available information without being overly sensitive. It enhances decision making and one’s ability to function and survive

-I think reason is with us every time we build a decision and judgements. We will use it in evaluating situations based only on facts rather than our personal opinions, perspectives, and feelings.

Before learning, write down questions or topics you are curious about or want to learn more about. Consider what specific information you hope to gain by the end of the lesson or activity. These questions will guide your learning and keep you focused.

-How does our personal experience affect our ability to be impartial in our moral decisions?

-Does it really ensure fairness and equality in decision-making?

-What is the right way to apply logic in order to fair decision making?

- I want to know the defferent concept that build a better reasoning. So, i build some questions that make a confusion in my mind. 1. What are the common biases that affect impartial reasoning? 2. How can one recognize and mitigate personal biases in decision-making? 3.What are the challenges of maintaining impartiality in emotionally charged situations?

After you have completed the lesson, go back and fill in what you have learned. Summarize key points, answers to your questions, and any new insights or information. Reflect on how much you've learned and if any of your original questions were answered.

Jas- I learned is about reason and impartiality in ethics, and moral dilemma they force us to make choices free from prejudice and based on impartial standards, and to make a decision making based on a reason.

Phomela- My insights about the lesson for today is inclusivity is very important specially in our society. Do not leave anyone behind or we don't need have to be biased towards each other because that will affect everyone around you.

Eugene- Using logic and evidence to make judgments and decisions is what defines reason. It includes examining data, recognizing trends, and making inferences. Being impartial entails making judgments and taking actions without showing favoritism or bias. It necessitates us to take into account all pertinent viewpoints, refrain from bias, and treat all individuals fairly. Making wise decisions requires both reasoning and impartiality. They assist us in preventing mistakes in decision-making, selecting ethical options, and establishing trust with others.

Lanie- This lesson focuses on the significance of logic and neutrality with respect to ethics especially in situations where there is a moral conflict. It stresses the concept of inclusion and fairness within the deliberating process. Logics and facts are engaged while neutrality means just to consider all views without being biased. These components assist in avoiding errors, making ethical choices, and building trust with others.

Kay Ann- I learned about moral dilemmas which is a difficult choices has to be made between two courses of action and for being biases of all the things that we had.

Allicia Kisha- I learned so much with this topic, specifically on how can one recognize and mitigate personal biases in decision-making. It enlighten my mind and make a footprint in my memory on how to handle things and decisions.

Cristine Ann- I have gained a deeper understanding of how these two concepts serve as foundational elements in ethical decision-making. It requires that we treat all individuals and their interests equally, without favoritism or bias. It ensures fairness and equity in moral decision-making.

I do not know much about impartiality. (Magno)

What I know about reason is that this is the main basis to make decisions, and what I know about impartiality is that it exists with equal consideration. (Concepcion )

What I know is that Reason involves using logic and critical thinking to make fair decisions. Impartiality helps ensure that decisions are based on fairness rather than personal interest or emotions. (Mangahas)

What I know is that reason is a basis or motive for an action or decision. Impartiality is an equal treatment and it should be based on objective criteria. (Felecio)

Reason has many purposes and definitions in different contexts. Since we are going to lecture about Reason in Ethics, I know that it would be about the rational process of reasoning. I understand that reason, in this context, is to evaluate moral decisions, and even to justify them. It also includes the actions, to think and determine what is right and wrong. Impartiality, in my perspective, is our ability or capacity to come out with our decisions that are fair. What I mean is that this includes decision making or judgment without bias, in simple words, this term supports neutrality. (Mercado)

We had a lot of mistakes we make in our daily lives. We can’t determine which is right or wrong, what is good and bad in our decisions. I can be lost in the choices I made in my life. I do not consider a lot of things when it comes to decision making. (Encinas)

W - What I Want to Know

I want to know more about impartiality since it was the first time I encountered this term or not often heard. And how people consider the fairness of each circumstance. And to expand my knowledge about these two topics. (Magno)

I still want to expand my knowledge about reason and impartiality and what will be the effect of this every time we make decisions. (Concepcion)

I want to know more about the simple techniques or strategies that help improve both reason and impartiality over time. (Mangahas)

I want to know more about the importance of impartiality. (Felecio)

Given the fact that I already have background knowledge and understanding of the terms that will be discussed probably after this, I also want to know and dig for the profound meaning and comprehension of Reason and Impartiality. (Mercado)

Ever since we were studying this course, I was aware what to expect in this subject to teah us what is the best choices in our life. It will guide us to be more good person and be a best version of ourselves. In my own perspective, what I wanted to learn is how to overcome all of the challenges I have in my life while learning a lessons from it. (Encinas)

L - What I Learned

I learned the importance of impartiality. This concept is important because it evaluates people’s reasons to make an action or decisions fair. Another reason is that this concept helps us to avoid biases or favoritism that lead to discrimination. This impartiality is quite hard because you might come into a dilemma when it comes to people's circumstances or reasons to make a decision or action justifiable and fair. (Magno)

Because of today's lesson, my knowledge about reason and impartiality expanded even more. I also learned how they can help in our decision-making. I also learned that reason and impartiality are crucial in ethics because they both affect our decisions because with reasons we understand the issues better and it helps us how to make ethical decisions. In impartiality, it is important because it helps us so that our judgment is fair and we are not allowed to have bias. ( Concepcion)

Careful thought is essential for understanding reason before making decisions. By analyzing facts, we can distinguish right from wrong. Fairness is upheld through impartiality, ensuring everyone is treated equally, no matter their background. Reason and impartiality are crucial for cultivating a balanced viewpoint, leading to ethical and fair actions. (Mangahas)

The discussion made me hold a better and more profound familiarity about the terms we have discussed. Reason and Impartiality are not just words but they help us to be a better person when it comes to making decisions and judgments. We have to be neutral to avoid bias or even prejudice. We have to think before we proceed with everything. We know what is right and wrong, and we must do it with thinking and not always let our hearts dominate everything. (Mercado)

In the end of the discussion, I have learned to identify which is wrong or right in every actions we have taken. We can have a chart to guide us to have a best decisions in our live. We already learned to determine what is the different actions we need to take on. (Encinas)

I have learned about reason is thinking carefully before making a decision. It helps us to know what is right and wrong by looking at facts. And from the impartiality to being fair and not taking one side. Treating everyone equally no matter who they are. Reason and Impartiality are both important because we create a balanced way of thinking that leads to more ethical and fair actions. (Felecio)
