Recounting Youth in Mission trip by Victoria Adeline Chalis

Last week me and my classmates participate in Youth in Mission week where we help people i need of service and etc. As for me, i did Personal Mission where i visited elemenatry schools and elderly house around Tangerang with the guidance of a different Academic Advisor. We did 2 different elementary schools for 2 day each from tuesday until friday and then visited the elderly house at saturday, a total of 1 week for 5-6 hours, mostly from early morning around 7 to lunch time around 12. Sadly i did not partake in visiting the elderly house because of urgent family needs.

Menara Tirza

For the first 2 days of my Personal Mission, me and my classmates visited an elementary school called Menara Tirza. At the first day we were assigned to help elementary grade 3 kids. At first i was really nervous and afraid what will be happening because it was my first time doing activites like these and i'm not fond with kids that much. But as time passes by, i finally got relaxed and had fun there since the kids were really friendly and fun. We helped the teacher watched the kids as they were studying and as from our proporsal, we also did activites that we have planned which were art and crafts such as making sunglasses from fuzzy wires and many more. As for the second day at Menara Tirza, we were assigned to help the elementary grade 2 kids. The kids surprisingly were much more calmer then the 3 graders yesterday, but still fun adorable. At one session i helped keep watch on a student with special needs and the other session i helped the other students in their activities such as when their studying or when they wers doing our art and crafts activities. Many of the kids gave us treates and presents, which was so sweet of them and we also gave them presents.

Paud Bangkit Generasi

The second elementary school we visited was Paud Bangkit Generasi. Me and my classmates were assigned to help the grade 5 and grade 4. In our surprise the grade 4 students only consist of 5 people, so most of us were assigned to the grade 5 class. For those 2 days we helped in their learning activities like helping teach them in lessons or in our art and crafts. We also had service together with the kids and teacher, and if i was being honest, while we were praying i was crying a little. We also played around with the kids and had fun with them.

Conclusion

From this Personal mission, i have learned many things, that helping others is such a joy to bring in this world, from helper to the personbeing helped. There is nothing with helping others, even if you are not close or don't even know them at all. We as human beings who have been blessed by God's kindness must share the kindness to other human beings.
