Based on the reading I found it interesting that one of the most famous artists in the world started out sweeping. In the text the author explains how da Vinci started out sweeping like all of the other new members of the bottega. This is interesting because I would think that someone so talented would have had the top level private lessons with the best people in the world since they were very young.

I found that the environment that Leonardo worked in was very interesting because it seemed that he and other new comers had started with simple chores while other, more experienced artists have more advance jobs. The text claims, that as the newest member of the bogetta, Leonardo knew nothing about the techniques of art. This shows why new apprentices started simple. Also the text states that Leonardo worked his way up from cleaning. This proves how you must prove yourself in order to advance.

I found it interesting how much emphasis there was that he didn’t have a regular education, but he turned out very successful coming from the bottega. It taught him more than just art. He learned a lot about art, but he also learned about mathematics, science, philosophy, and perspective. All of these teachings along with the skills he obtained made him such a great artist and scientist/inventor.

I found this surprising because he is considered one of the most talented artists. One example from the text is on line 6 or 7 (I’m not sure) when the text states “The younger apprentices, like himself, swept the floors and cleaned brushes and mallets.” This shows that Leonardo da Vinci, a really famous artist was once just an apprentice who swept the floors. As you can see what I have found surprising was that Leonardo da Vinci was once an apprentice who only would clean up after everyone else.

Later on he evolved and became a world wide recognized artist by the tasks he had to complete for other artists. This is interesting because I am sure other artists or famous people started off by doing chores and became known for their talents. Leonardo also learned many skills from working in the bottega, which helped him in many ways.

Like Verrochio being a skilled goldsmith, while, the others are painting, making jewelry, making sculptures, and other things. Imagine how much space you need for that. Now a days, I think that artists always had a kinda small space to make paintings, and sculptures. Well I don’t know anything about this so... :/
