Thoughts on shoot

The shoot was difficult to say the least. Most people stayed on task and pre-production was all on time and well arranged. However during the shoot i encountered multiple problems. The first issue i had to deal with was the set itself. The cafe definitely had the look i was going for but we were limited to the booths only. The cafes lights were overly warm so it was interfering with lighting. We were set back for time due to Makeup taking a while and even though it was well done it cost us 2 hours of quiet shooting. Later on in the shoot the cafe got busy and some people were being really loud, so much so, that you could hear it on the mics.

Jobs wise, nearly everyone completed their task and got involved with the shoot. I'd like to say that i was willing to take advice and input like with aiden who had some really good points. Not to name names, but i think that skarlett was not very professional. During filming she outright undermined my decisions as director and started arguing with me over a shot. she later apologized saying "she realised it was out of line". Overall the shoot was productive.

i believe i did well in my role as location manager. It was challenging to get the extent of loactions that were included in the script so we had to cut it down by half and try problem solve. I think i handled myself well during meetings with contributor's and that helped in convincing them to allow us to film.

It was disappointing for my script not to be chosen but after hearing the feedback i did see its flaws. This practice in writing and the creative feedback as been eyeopening for me and i feel i've developed as a better writer because of it.

I was asked after someone dropped out if I could help with a makeup shoot so I agreed. We had an hour to film but I think we got enough. This was insightful in working with different departments for a shoot

I was initially worried about the prospect of editing for our final graded unit and was slightly nervous. I had more experience using DaVinci Resolve which is why I chose to use that editing software. I'm glad I chose to do the showreel on it because I'm happy with the way it turned out. I intend to further develop my editing skills in the following year.
