One of the major turning points in WWII was that the first stopping of Hitler's army was the Battle of Great Britain in the summer of 1940. German Air force (the Luftwaffe) was going to attempt a bombing but failed to win Great Britain due to the Royal Air force. 

Another was the Bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 7, 1941 which caused the U.S. to get involved in WWII. 

The Battle of Midway on June 4, 1942 was when the U.S. claimed victory on the Japanese army. They were able to sick down four of Japan's best aircraft carriers. This caused Japanese forces to weaken and benefited the U.S. more than Japanese forces.

The Battle of Normandy was the most largest invasion force in history where U.S. troops stormed the beaches at Normandy, France, and it began the process of re-taking France. Was important because they were pushing German forces back to Germany.

The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed more than 226,000 people. This is a turning point in WWII because the allied forces won the war and Japan surrendered to the Allied powers

It killed 6 millions European Jews as well as gypsies and homosexual. They were killed in concentration camp and death camps all around Germany. The beginning of the Holocaust started when Hitler used his hatred for the Jews to gain support from the people. He blamed Jew for the country's defeat in WWI. First Germany Nazis set rules for Jews called Nuremberg Laws which took away Jews basic rights and freedom in 1935. Then came the the "Night of Broken Glass" in which a Jew named Herschel killed a German troop as revenge for deporting his father. This was ta prefect excuse for the Nazis to kill almost 100 Jews and break into their homes and business. Some Jews saw the dangers that would happen to them in the future and started to flee. Hitler saw this as a great opportunity to get ride of all the Jews but failed as other nations didn't want to except the refuge Jews. Then Hitler isolated the Jews into places called the ghettos. He hoped this would kill of the Jews. Later on Hitler grew impatient waiting for the Jews to die and his final solution was Genocide. Hitler's troops hunted for Jews and made them dig graves, which later they would be placed in. He hoped this would speed up the killing process. So instead they dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
