         <description><![CDATA[<p>Earthquakes can be different depending on where you're at.</p><p>If you have a tougher ground, your house (depending on how it's built) should last through an earthquake much longer or survive with minimal damage. </p><p>An&nbsp;earthquake&nbsp;(also known as a quake, tremor or temblor) is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves.</p>]]></description>

Our crust is covered 75% by water.</span><br></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Mantle: the part of the earth between the core and the the crust. It is the LARGEST layer!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Outer Core: a liquid layer about 2,300 km. It is made of   iron and nickel.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Inner Core: The&nbsp;<b>inner core</b>&nbsp;is shaped like a ball. Scientists say the outer&nbsp;<b>core</b>&nbsp;is made mostly of iron and nickel.          <description><![CDATA[<p>The world's largest earthquake was recorded in southern Chile on May 22, 1960. This earthquake was 9.5 on the Richter Scale--- the highest the world has ever seen. The earthquake soon created a massive tsunami that killed MANY people. The earthquake shook the ground vigorously and damaged or destroyed buildings. About 2,000,000 people were left homeless after this earthquake (and tsunami that followed). This was a very destructive earthquake--- something that these people couldn't even protect themselves from. :(  </p>]]></description>
