All Gatsby wants in the world is Daisy, Daisy, and more Daisy. Nick previously knew this, but now it has been revealed to him just how bad he wants what he thinks already belongs to him. Daisy is LITERALLY the only thing that Gatsby desires and he would do anything and everything to get her. 

There are so many factors that separate Daisy and Gatsby. Some of these include the Buchanan's marriage, the Long Island Bay, and 5 years of absence. he hasn't stopped thinking about their love, but he cant access her heart. Nick realizes now that Gatsby has even done as much as he can to diminish this distance, proving just how much he loves her.

For the past 5 years, all Gatsby has gone through is heartache with the lack of Daisy. With all of his effort came failure. He would throw parties and she wouldn't attend. Nick realizes that all Gatsby wants is her to be close to and love him. 

Gatsby is reminiscing about what a life with Daisy could be like, fun and love all the time.

    Ain't we got fun?"
They wouldn't need money, their love is enough and all they need to survive with eachother

At this point, it represents Gatsby looking past the materialism he surrounds himself with and realizes that Daisy could be his one only ting he needs.

Gatsby finally gets what he wanted as Daisy finally attends one of his parties. He is so happy he even disregards Tom and steals her away. This is all he has dreamed of for the last five years and it seems obvious that he wishes he could feel this excited all the time 

5 years of pining for Daisy, and she finally comes. he no longer has to wish, wait and yearn for her, because he has her right where he has always wanted her. Now all Gatsby feels like he has to do is keep impressing her

All Gatsby wishes for is Daisy to leave Tom and run off with him. having Daisy at the party makes Gatsby think that this fantasy is achievable. He feels as though they are still in love and are connected on a level nobody but them could understand. 

This is representative of Gatsby trying all he can to get close to Daisy and allow her to love him. He has put so much effort into putting himself in her life. Now nick is imagining all of it going down the drain, which would be an unlikely occurrence. All of the influence that Gatsby has tried to force makes it seem like a waste.

Nick has yet to understand the jumbled inter-relations with Daisy, Tom and Gatsby. All Gatsby wants is Daisy to renounce her love for Tom;however, Nick has yet to realize this to its full extent. Nick fears that daisy's coyness and shying away from Gatsby, may cause him to eventually move on and find new love. This leads to Nick imagining this during the scene. 

Nick is aware of Gatsby's near obsession with Daisy so it is unlikely that he believes his fantasy to be true. The readers do know,however, that Gatsby eventually takes a great leap forward in his venture for Daisy's love. he has done everything in his power, and wallet, to earn her love, so why would he stop? He is a successful man who seems to always get what he wants. All throughout the novel readers see his both successful and failed attempts, but yet he keeps persisting.
