Constructivism is A learning theory that people construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world, through experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences

Now add health education?
Health education is all about real life applications and experiences and requires knowledge about themselves specifically. Health is already student centered. We want students to learn how to live a long healthy life. Asking questions about students lives, habits and thought processes now and helping them come to personal solutions is constructivism in a health classroom!

Students are asked this question at the beginning of class and now have the class period to come to their own conclusions. They are provided with hard copies of articles as well as class chrome books. They can use their notes from the unit. Students can choose to work in groups or on their own to put together a one page conclusion paper on why drugs should or shouldn’t be legalized.

Cooperative Learning
Refusal Skipps
Students are divided into groups of different skill sets. They have to create a relatable scenario that they can apply their learned refusal skills too. Students write the detailed scenario and then use the S.T.O.P.
