A plant-based diet, which focuses on eating mostly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, and seeds, has many health benefits, especially in reducing the risk of cancer. Eating mostly plants doesn’t mean you have to avoid meat entirely, but the majority of your meals should come from plants. Plants give your body important nutrients, like vitamins and antioxidants, that help your immune system fight infections and disease. The antioxidants in plants help reduce inflammation in the body, which is linked to cancer and other health problems. A plant-based diet helps control your weight, which is crucial for cancer prevention. Being overweight raises the risk of many types of cancer. Plant-based foods are high in fiber, which supports good digestion and helps your body absorb nutrients, lower cholesterol, and manage blood sugar. A plant-based diet also lowers your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other health issues.

To get the most benefits, make sure your plant-based meals are healthy, avoid processed foods, fried vegetables, and sugary snacks. Eating more plants helps your body work better and lowers your cancer risk.

A plant-based diet focuses on eating foods mostly from plants like fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and whole grains. This doesn't mean you have to give up meat entirely, but you should try to make plants the main part of your meals. Research shows that a plant-based diet can help lower your risk for diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. For example, studies on the Mediterranean diet, which is full of plant foods, have shown it can reduce the risk of cancers like colon and breast cancer, and even make people feel better as they age. So, a plant-based diet is a great choice for both your health and for reducing the risk of serious illnesses.

Plants are packed with vitamins, minerals, and special nutrients that help your immune system fight off illness. For example, antioxidants in plants can lower inflammation in the body, which is linked to many health problems, including cancer. Plus, plant-based foods are high in fiber, which keeps your digestive system working smoothly and helps you stay at a healthy weight.

Choosing more plant-based foods isn't just good for your health it’s also better for the planet. Growing plants uses fewer resources like water and land compared to raising animals for food. Plus, animal farming creates a lot of greenhouse gases, which contribute to climate change. By eating more plants and less animal products, we can reduce these harmful gases and help protect the environment. So, making plant-based meals a regular part of your diet not only helps you stay healthy but also helps the Earth.

If you want to try eating more plant-based foods, it’s easy to get started. Begin by filling half your plate with vegetables at lunch and dinner. You can also try eating a vegetarian meal once a week, like a bean chili or veggie stir-fry. Don’t forget to add healthy fats like avocado or nuts, and choose whole grains like quinoa or brown rice. Over time, these small changes can help you feel better and improve your health without making drastic changes to your diet.

My name is Michelle and the purpose of this research was to learn more about the benefits of a Plant-Based diet for our Personal Health and the Environment. I decided to research this topic because I've been on diets but never a plant-based one so I thought maybe throughout my research I would consider this one or just to simply know about different diets I can choose from.

Im the type of person who'd be down to get a late night snack with you. Id be down to go eat pho, ramen, in n out, you name it. But I do try my best to stay away from too much fast food and fatty foods in general. I try to drink plenty of water throughout there day because it very important. But overall, I was intrigued with what I learned throughout my research about a plant-based diet.

Research Question: " What are the benefits of a Plant-Based diet for Personal Health and the Environment?"

I hope to learn more about a plant-based diet and if its just plants you need to eat or I can eat other things.

I developed many skills throughout the project, for example I learned that almost 130 million pounds of food is being wasted each year because people are careless about food. Amy gave me many tips to use to save and reuse food. Emily mentioned the DASH-Diet which i've never heard of before and it was very helpful because I'm trying to look for some diets at the moment.

I was surprised with the amount of foods thats wasted daily in America because people don't care. This helped shape my perspective because before I was careless about food and wouldn't care when it came to throwing it away. Now I wanna change that, I want to try to make new foods out of the old ones I have and not buy things I don't need from the grocery store. Normally I like to buy a lot of stuff because I'm like I'll eat it but I need to stop because if I do it will definitely help save money and food.
