         <description><![CDATA[<div>He was born in New Orleans on August 4, 1901.He was raised in a bad neighborhood called "The Battlefield. He drop out of school in the 5th grade.He was arrested and sent to Colored Waif's Home for Boys where he learned to play.When he left the home for boys, he found a mentor in Joe "King Oliver. He started to make music under his own name in 1925. His records are the some of the most influential in jazz music. He became very popular on the radio in the 1930's. He was very outspoken on civil rights in the 1950's. He then started to have health problems in 1959 until his death in 1971. </div>]]></description>
