Hi Dr and all my colleagues , Honestly speaking, this is my first time l heard about CMC after reading such beautiful article that share by you dr and after doing the five entries or recordings, I have learned a lot about CMC and its features in comparing to FTF communication. Besides that, i also i had listened to my colleagues and their ideas regarding this term. I have learned that computer mediated communication involves exchanges of information in textual, audio or video formats that are transmitted and controlled by the use of computer and telecommunication technology.
I would like also to add more that i had learned about some important theories that related to the use of internet like media richness theory (Daft & Lengel, 1986),Social presence theory and Uses and gratification theory beside that also the problems that related to internet and its use. At the end, I would like to speak about my feeling which is positive feeling. I am very happy and more confident thank you dr

Hello Dr and all,

First and foremost, it has been an interesting task indeed for me since I have never really done an assignment like this where I would read up an article, extract sub topics for each recordings and proceed to record with a hint of my own opinion and perspectives inside. I personally think where the Computer Mediated Communication theories article did give me a whole lot of new insights and knowledge into the field, instead of me just knowing 'Oh this is how social media or the internet works' without understanding the meaning and theories behind every act and movement online or in CMC.
Honestly to me the best part would be putting my real life perspectives and issues I've witnessed into my entries, which just made me feel the extra goodness in sharing what I love to share with everyone on Flipgrid. Another wonderful thing is when I get to listen to my classmates' recordings and wow, at times I am amazed by their interesting real lives' examples and opinions which might just got me a little, mind blown. It's like, recognizing an environment I thought I knew well of, but actually there's just so much of fascinating and real world information for me to absorb from everyone.

Summing it up, this online discussion entries task has been quite awesome indeed to just really adds up new perspectives as well as freshen up my existing knowledge of the CMC environment. Thank you!

First of all, I want to say thank you Dr. Aieem for giving the opportunity for us in this recording entries task because it was completely different from other tasks and I feel it’s a fresh and exciting approach to learn something. It is very nice that we can reflect on what we have learned and understood from the article that Dr has already shared.

And for the topic material, I really like it. Although, it is a little bit hard for me to understand the materials as a whole, since I am not that familiar with the theories of CMC. I only have basic knowledge about CMC which is linked how we use the internet as a medium to communicate. I haven’t read much about CMC before. But, It was very nice indeed to read through the article. I was also trying my best to comprehend new terms regarding CMC.

My favorite part is listening to others’ perspectives. They are all giving such a very elaborative explanation and providing the examples that I wouldn’t think of before. They are really cool. I am amazed that their explanation actually made me understand the topic easier. I want to say I am sorry for whoever watch my explanation then you all don’t get what I mean because I didn’t elaborate my explanation also did not provide real examples as you all did. I am new with this and I am trying my best to improve more later.

Overall, I am happy that I could gain positive things from learning CMC through the article as well as through the perspectives from my cool friends. Thank you 😊

Much appreciation to the Dr for giving us this opportunity to do some research on CMC and certain things that evolve on the internet. I did my research with utmost enthusiasm because it was my first time to learn about many positive and negative things that happen when we use the internet. I personally have problems using the computer and internet to communicate but after doing this research and watching my colleagues videos, it has given me a lot of confidence.

To add on, thanks to my classmates for making their videos clear to understand because i also learn a lot of things from them. Lets keep up the spirit my colleagues, what you present does not only help but it helped people like me also. I am more than grateful.

Also, besides my own understanding of the CMC topics, I have actually listened to different perspectives of other classmates regarding similar topics. Some of my friends are actually really good at presenting and expressing ideas. So, it is not only for me to look at the CMC from various perspectives but also learned about how they organized the points and came out the videos. Lastly, I also highly appreciate that I could share my point of view regarding some particular subtopics of CMC with my own understanding. Thank you.

Through reading the text and finding points by ourselves to introduce the text that seems an interesting and meaningful task, and I think learning in this way also made us remember knowledge better. On the one hand, we watched each other's videos and shared our ideas with each other, which I think made our understanding deeper; on the other hand, for instance, there were some points that I didn't think of or that I didn't really understand, etc, and by watching other students' insights, I would get a lot of gains, which also expanded my knowledge haha.

Secondly, I would like to say that I was very unfamiliar with CMC before, but through the study, I learned what CMC is and the related about it, which I found very interesting and very practical, and relevant to people. For example, social presence, I understand that face-to-face communication is more social presence than communication through CMC, it has both verbal and non-verbal cues, which allows us to feel more directly, I think it is very interesting.

All in all, thank you Dr, it is an opportunity for us to experience this innovative and meaningful task, and thanks to my classmates for their excellent sharing!

Hi, Dr. and everyone.

Based on this mini task, I have a clearer mind map on Computer-Mediated Communications. There are some key theories or concepts in this article such as Social Presence Theory, Media Richness, Impression Management, Hyperpersonal Communication, Uses and Gratification Theory, Behavioral Disinhibition, Flaming, Aggression and Inappropriate Self-Disclosure etc.

This task reminds me of some knowledge that I have already learned in the last semester. For instance, nonverbal(nonlinguistic) communication, Goffman’s dramaturgical theory(presentation of self).

And for me, impression management is impressive since everybody have to present themselves in whatever light they think appropriate for a certain social context. At the same time, that is also the reason why some people became aggressive or offensive. They need not to keep impression management on the Internet all the time.

In conclusion, I am very appreciated it that this article is organised and easy to read and understand. It assists me to have a clearer mind and various angles in the aspect of CMC like a magic mind map. Thank you very much Dr.

Hello Dr and all!

Having to critically review two articles from my team is actually quite interesting in some sense. The process of reviewing the article was long as I have to reread to fully understand at the same time highlighting and extracting useful point for my writing. However upon more than my expectation, the two articles were really fun to go through. Especially when it really intrigue me on the sense where 'This is really something to think about because its CMC and technology from at least 8 to 15 years ago' - so many progression and development to think about how far the technology and users' perspectives have shifted. From conservative to liberal digital natives and from using social media as a contact tool to using it to construct various definitions of online relationships. All of this really reflected on the endless possibilities CMC can bring us into. What more about the future, right?

Truth to be told, the articles did also provided me some new ideas or even thinking about how a research should be conducted, and how well can it to be conducted. Definitely due to certain circumstances I've observed from the readings. At the same time, I also do understand the limited resources the researchers probably have during the time, and certain restrictions they might not have revealed in the article. With all due respect, the articles were greatly crafted by the authors and the research were conducted with effort and time invested. Hence, my opinions are only valid in my own sense subjectively, as per a critical review should be.

The group discussion wise was amazing, we all have so much fun being in a team! Everyone is really responsible and diligent in what we have to accomplish as a team, and just for that itself, has brought so much ease and comfort into completing this assignment despite the busy semester we all are having.

Concluding it all, it has been a great experience, especially grateful most for this entire task of discussion, groupwork definitely has brought me and my groupmates closer which is awesome!

Thank you to Dr as well, for giving us this opportunity to be here, and to gain new insights through all the tasks given.

Thank you very much to Agnes, Keekee, and Aisyah for working so hard to complete this assignment in just a few weeks. I believe we are responsible and dedicated to this group project. I'm glad that we were able to explore and collaborate on our parts together. Overall, I find the process of completing this group project is fun and insightful at the same time. It was a little difficult at first as we were deciding which papers to write because we wanted to find an interesting subject to work on. But I was happy that, after a few discussions, we were able to come up with the topic. Once again, I want to thank the three of my cool friends Agnes, Kee Kee and Aisyah. They got many ideas and useful perspectives. If I did this project on my own, I might probably not have thought of some of the ideas they contributed to making this project as good as it can be. Also, I want to thank to Dr Aieem for everything. I think Dr Aieem did a fantastic job introducing us to all the things we need to know about CMC. I hope the things that I have learned during this project would be helpful for me in the future. Thank you so much.

My Reflection

Hello Dr and everyone!
I think this assignment was an enriching and interesting experience for me. I would like to thank my team members Olivia, Raghad, and Mohamed for their enthusiasm and responsible for this assignment. We worked together to find an article, then approached Dr to confirm the validity of the article, then had a video conference to share our thoughts on the chosen article, and finally wrote our critical essay. Although the task was more demanding than last time, the whole process was very fulfilling and rewarding.
I would also like to say that the two articles that were chosen not only gave me a deeper understanding of my previous knowledge such as media richness and self-representation. Moreover, the author's combination of self-presentation and social media gave me a more comprehensive understanding of that knowledge. Secondly, I was able to acquire new knowledge such as perceived functionality, the personality traits of openness, etc. I think the two articles chosen are very representative in that they emphasise the interactive nature of social media and provide insight into the issues involved in CMC. In addition, the introduction to Facebook and Instagram and the differences between the two have given me a better understanding of them.
Finally, I think the most important point is that the requirement of the assignment given by Dr allowed us to understand the article and the knowledge more deeply; not only did we have to have a good understanding of the article we chose but we also had to compare the similarities and differences between the two articles, which I think allowed us to grasp the knowledge in more detail. Thank you, Dr! ☺️

Hello Dr and my friends.

Completing the group assignment through four-person collaboration, I believe that cooperation and unity is more important than anything else in a group work. Raghad organized several meetings and assigned everyone's tasks well as the spiritual leader of our group. I appreciate it a lot.

Nowadays, the development of Internet technology has greatly changed the way people communicate, transcending the limits of time and space and shrinking the distance between people, bringing people from all over the world together through this small platform, thus also creating the so-called cultural collision; on the other hand, the continuous development and updating of new media have enabled people to better present themselves through this platform, while also better promoting intercultural communication between people. So we chose the articles on FB and INS which are so hot social media applications to explore the intercultural communication in the aspect of CMC.

My part is to criticise the article on Ins, so I had gained more knowledge of media richness, perceived functionality, self-representation, friendship development and the personality trait of openness. To be honest, self-presentation and self-representation disordered me at the beginning. Although I'm quite familiar to the former one, I spent some time figuring out the definition of the latter one that is an artistic likeness or image of oneself. Very interesting.

Thank you Dr.

Firstly, I would like to thank my group members Ragad, Li Yan and Yuanlinwei for making the research and teamwork worth the while. I really enjoyed working with you guys and please continue to put in the hard work that you put in when we did our assignment together. However, I’m also grateful for the opportunity Dr gave us to work together as a team. On this assignment I learned a lot of things relative to the subject of Facebook and Instagram. Many people including myself have accounts on Facebook and I have made so many friends and even engaged into business occasions using these platforms. This serves to testify that the study we did was relevant and accurate in terms of theirs uses.

I fully understood the topic and i hope that we will score high marks in this preswntation because we really tried by all means to write everything that we dug from the internet and from our sharp minds as well. There were a few challenges in trying to combine the data but eventually we managed to cross that bridge and submitted our work on time. Another thing i learnt was time management. managing time is very important because we were given a deadline to submit and that made me realize that i have the ability to work under pressure. To sum it up, this was a very eventful group research and i loved every second of it.

Definitely, It was so great to have this opportunity to exchange our mind in this discussion.

Besides of my thoughts regarding the articles, my groupmates did provided further insights about the same issues, which has given me the inspiration to analyse the articles in another point of view. Therefore, I'm really appreciate all the outcome of our discussion and it was a fruitful session.

Also, regarding the articles I have read, I think both articles are actually different in the scope of their study.

Hello Dr and all!

We've reached the final assignment of the course, creating an E-Portfolio with WIX. It's a very fascinating process honestly, more about exploring and trial with different things on the site. Coming up with the template form gave a bigger picture on what will be included by me in the website, however could be even more defined when created in the site. When I finally got my hands on WIX, it becomes a playground for the expression of creativity and things I intend to share, as stated in my template form. So much of fun elements to add onto the site, with varying properties and functions made me realize how technology provides ease of access for users/bloggers/businesses online. I have had previous experiences with Blogger and WordPress however I guess WIX has become the newer trend, and it truly is! For what WIX can provides, definitely true to its popularity these days.

Concluding the E-Portfolio experience, this is definitely one of the assignment I had most fun with, since I get to express myself with creation online. Thank you Dr for the opportunity!

Take care everyone!

Good day everyone!

It seems like the final task is very interesting! I would say that I have a very basic knowledge and skills to create my own website. Nevertheless, it does not mean that I could not do it. Our task to create an E-Portfolio is one of the way for us to be able to have an experience and insights on the technical part. Practically, after completing the website, I believe that this is one of the best platform for me to compile all of my notes and assignments for further reading. Apart for academic purposes, creating E-Portfolio can be one of the 'wow factor' for our future employer to have a look. Overall, it has given me a new experience and I would love to venture more into creating website. Despite having this semester online and we couldn't see each other, I got to know my classmates better by visiting their website. Thank you, prof for this opportunity.

We could create depend on our ideas exactly and I think it gave full play to everyone's creativity and imagination, and by watching other students' works, I found that everyone has their own idea and the works were all very interesting.
Secondly, by watching the reference video given by the Dr and combining it with my own creation, I got to know more about Wix, the website creation platform. By experiencing each step of the creation process and the variety of options offered by the platform, I not only understood the functions of each option but also inspired to create more 💡.
All in all, I think it was a cool assignment that not only exercised our creativity to a great extent but also makes us have a skill. haha. Dr has provided us with a lot of guidance by giving the sample and template of the e-portfolio, it means a lot to me indeed! I have explored Wix.com followed the YouTube videos posted by Dr in order to write my proposal for the e-portfolio. I have separated the sections based on the navigators that I will set in my website, also, further elaborated the details of each section.

When I started to develop the e-portfolio, it was quite easy to use and the interface is clear for those who attempt to develop a website for the first time. Basically, I have chosen an aesthetic template for editing my e-portfolio based on the proposal I have submitted earlier.

Even though this is not my first time developing a website, but it was still considered challenging to me as I have never created an e-portfolio before. Therefore, thank you again to Dr who has assigned this interesting task for us to create our own websites with creativity. I really enjoyed doing this e-portfolio.

Hello and good night, Dr and my dear classmates. Primarily, I would like to say sorry for my overdue reflection. Hope to get your pardon. My reflection is as follows:

In fact, at the beginning when I received this task, I was a bit panicked because making a website, as difficult as it sounds. But when I got in touch with wix, a strange, yet familiar feeling occurred. As my presentation on navigation to my Eportfolio mentioned, actually the string of numbers in my wixwebsite address(1836796562.wixwebsite.com) is my QQ account number that is a very popular social media platform in China. Qzone is a social network with hundreds of millions of users. It is the online home of QQ users and one of the core platforms of Tencent Group. We can play games, play dress-up, upload photos, publish posts, write logs.

I had felt better since I realised that Wixwebsite has a lot in common with Qzone. Of course, they are not exactly the same. For example, wix needs more links since I tend to put links to my assignments videos and links to related study materials, which are different from Qzone, I need to convert the links to make sure they are effective as well as convenient. To be honest, there is still some difficulty in completing the website, which is exhausting, but the sense of accomplishment after completing it is also very pleasant, even I will continue to build my website after completing my assignment and I believe it can introduce my own stuff as an incredible platform.

At the end, Dr thank you very much for giving us this opportunity to try to challenge something different. Creating a website is something that I would have found to be a very huge and difficult task before approaching this course, now that is just a piece of cake for me. In the future, I believe I have more courage to try to challenge something I have never been exposed to before. Thank you again.

Commitment and punctuality is very important to complete the task and we made it, thank you my teammates Wang and Chen Rui. In Whatsapp Group we introduce ourselves and set a date and time for discussion. We didn't have any problem during our virtual meeting with Google Meet, it's all clear and at the end we reached our understanding and we decided together which theme we chose for the assignments. Less than a week we all already posted in the WhatApp group some articles and we picked 2 and submitted. Once it's approved then we continue to keep updated and finally we complete the assignment and submit it a week before the due date.

As a non-digital native, speaking to no one or no human connection plus I’m type of extrovert personality, this assignment was very new to me.. it's not easy obviously. I like the idea of using technology in completing our tasks and I learned a lot from it too. During recording, I must imagine I’m talking to you Dr and to my classmates.. I wasn't good at doing that. So this is exactly what the actors do during the filming process where they have to imagine playing a part in front of the camera with no appearance of the opposite character, like just read the script to no one. Everyone has a unique way to present and it's very refreshing to watch my classmate's presentation and I can repeat to get the points if I missed it. I may not be used to it but in the future I might need it for future activity.

As salam Dr.. I’ve created an e-portfolio and a website previously and the purpose is to introduce and to give a brief information to potential customers about what I’m doing and programs we can provide for them professionally. In this kind of business it's very important to have our own website or e-portfolio to gain trust and to establish ourselves in our field. During creating and developing the website, my biggest challenge was I don't know anything about website design and my academic background is education and language which has nothing to do with IT or anything related with computer technology. But I determined and pushed myself to do it, explore and learn. After hundreds of trials and errors, stress and frustration, finally it's done. It takes 3 months for me to complete this mission just to publish a basic website or e-portfolio. Even though I had hard times doing it, I enjoy the learning process and once I see it's published, get some positive comments from viewers, the satisfaction is incredible. This assignment for our course is something new we learned and we can use the e-portfolio in future, especially for our career goals.

Why I find it interesting is because I am interested in doing a research related to social media and communication. Previously, people only use computer to communicate online, but nowadays everyone can communicate as easy as 1 click on their phones. This is my first time making a Eportfolio with Wix, and I think this is a very good assignment. It allows us to navigate through online platform to create a website. Eventhough I find it challenging, it find it fun and I would like to thank Dr again for assigning us this task. I really enjoyed doing this Eportfolio.

It was a good introduction to the field, especially as it addressed the theories related to the course. Out of the two articles provided, I selected Bubas's (2001) article which discusses CMC theories and phenomena: the factors that affect collaboration over the Internet. Furthermore, the entries about hyper-personal communication and behavioral disinhibition have helped me relate these phenomena to social media.

As I mentioned above, I was able to link social presence with the use of online dating applications, since both involve idealized perceptions of message producers and optimized self-presentations. Moving forward, I have also discussed problematic behaviours relative to social media, primarily cyberbullying. For instance, users can take advantage of the Internet’s anonymity feature which may shield them from negative consequences.

In a way, this knowledge application has helped me further understand CMC foundation knowledge. As the assignment provided a space for discussing our opinions, I broadened my horizons as well. Through the video entries of my classmates, and those who elaborated on the same topic, I have been able to view the issues of CMC in a fresh perspective.

To be part of this course was an advantage for me because I was given the opportunity to learn on the theories and application of computer mediated communication. I am interested in this field, as for my master project I am using the advantages of CMC into it.

For the first assignment, we were given two articles to choose from, hence I chose the “CMC Theories and Phenomena”. The article given was easy for me to understand and we are required to record two videos based on the article. I have read the article twice to highlight the important key findings that I can from the video. For my video, I decided to do a problem related to CMC and theories related to CMC.

For the theories related to CMC that I found based on the article, I decided to elaborate on the social presence theory and media richness theory. This is not the first time I encountered social presence theory because during last semester, I used this theory for my mini scale research for Theorizing Digital Culture (TDC) course. More or less I already have the background knowledge of it and reading this article has enhanced my understanding of it. As for the media richness theory, this is the first time I am reading it and to have more knowledge about it, I have done some reading outside the article which allows me to have a better understanding.

There are three points that I decided to point out based on the problem that is related to CMC which are the reduced self-restraint, deviating from social norms, and lack of accountability. All of these points are selected based on the article and I also provide more explanation on it in my video including some examples for the viewers of my video.

After completing the video, I had a few difficulties uploading the video into Flipgrid because I was uploading the video through the website instead of using the application in the mobile phone. Thus, for improvement, I have inserted the background for my video so that my video looks more lively.

Global interaction and the removal of geographical boundaries have been made possible via CMC, which has changed the way people interact. Business, education, social connections, and several other facets of daily life have all been transformed by it. So, it is a pleasure to learn this subject taught by Dr. Rahim so that I can explore more about CMC.

Hi my classmates and Prof. As everyone know, we are utilizing Flip application to post our online discussion. I did two entries in the applications. First, I present on m y understanding of the Hyperpersonal Model of CMC developed by Joseph Walther. The theory explains on how online interactions can sometimes be even more personal and intimate than face-to-face interactions.

To complete this task, I have read on the given articles by the lecturer and picked out the important information. After doing so, I turned on the Flip and recorded my thoughts and ideas on it.

From this activity, I have learnt on how to use the Flip application as well as to speak my thoughts on the article using the online platforms. Recording in one take is a new challenge for me, especially when it comes to article review. I also found out that in Flip we can only upload a maximum of 10 minutes! Because of that, I have to edit my videos and cut some parts out to fit into the duration requirement of Flip.

The second main assessment in this course is critical reviewing a paper. My group mates and I have decided to focus our study on 2 articles which are focusing on AI and chatbots. Alyaa and I focused on article titled as ‘Talking to a bot or a wall? How chatbots vs. human agents affect anticipated communication quality’ meanwhile Batrisyia and Mathilda chose on ‘AI-mediated apology in a multilingual work context: Implications for perceived authenticity and willingness to forgive’. For this assessment we must record a group discussion, an individual reaction to the article and one writing assessment.

To complete this task, we divided our tasks among ourselves and set the date for the recording. The writing of the articles review got easier as time went by as I had grasped the idea on how to complete it. Even though it had many parts that need to be meticulously inspected and wrote, but with the help with my groupmates, I find the writing part of this assessment was very informative for my study in the next two semesters.

However, I encountered a little mishap during the recording because of my low Internet connection. I had to exit the discussion and get into it for a few times as the connection made it hard for me to stay on the website for too long. I personally, was sorry to my group mates for the difficulty caused on my side.

In this groupwork, my pair (Batrisyia) and I worked on an article that focuses on the implementation of AI in an interpersonal communication within a multilingual work context. Based on the findings, I have come to learn that authenticity of apology is diminished due to the use of AI-MC tools. This has also led to the diminished willingness to forgive, and the attempt of self-disclosure did not help the situation of the apologizer as well.

From this, I was able to reflect on the context of the study. If the study was conducted in an Asian context, I believe the outcomes would be rather different. As we know, the Asian communities are known to be bilinguals and multilinguals, and English education comes second after the native/ national language in most Asian countries. Therefore, the bilingual community would then understand the challenges of learning English and the speakers should be able to empathize with one another, specifically when it comes to English language proficiency.

Rather than frowning upon the use of AI-MC tools, people should really reflect on the need of using the tools in the first place. It can be perceived as an effort to enhance the communication and to fix speech errors, with respect to making it comprehensible for the intended reader. Learning another language is a never-ending process and over time, technology has come to aid that process. Thus, the initiative of AI tools such as machine translation, grammar correction and spell checkers should not be downplayed as lack of effort.

From this activity, I was able to enhance my understanding the implications of AI in a communication setting and that people have mixed reactions to the use of AI itself. Alongside the insightful exposure to the topic, this assignment has also strengthen my critical thinking: particularly in understanding the balance between the bad and the good of AI interference.

For this same assignment, we (Alyaa, Syuhaidah, Batrisyia and I), were tasked to present our findings and make comparisons between the two articles. As both pairs chose the articles that pertains to the use of AI in a professional setting, we compared the methodology and the findings of the study. To this, we have extracted several themes from the comparisons.

For starters, both experimental studies have illustrated people’s negative perception towards AI. The two studies doubt the efficiency of AI (in a chatbot and within AI-MC tools), perceiving it as a threat to humanity that will replace manpower. Contrary to my belief, where I view AI as a valuable tool that assists day-to-day business activities such as professional communication and it is time efficient. When used properly, AI is indeed a good assistant, and one should not fully rely on AI and stop putting effort at what they do.

Aside from that, both articles have highlighted on the communication quality when involving AI, where the messages seem to lack interpersonal touch. As a result of this assignment, I have learned the importance of regulating AI use, where it should not interfere with interpersonal communication and that AI-enhanced text should still convey the intended meaning and expression. After all, developing meaningful communication is one of the main goals of communication, so people should pay attention to how it is accomplished and be transparent about the process.

From this activity, I have been able to channel my creativity into digital graphic design, particularly website design. In addition, I have gained insight into what it takes to build a website, so I am indeed grateful for Wix's beginner-friendly features. As I created my e-portfolio, arranged, and aligned multimedia elements, I learned that such processes take time and needs a lot of patience. Although I encountered no technical problems when building my Wix site, I spent a lot of time exploring the available features and learning how to use them.

My e-portfolio was envisioned after seeing the Wix example and I was able to work towards it over time. This platform is really user-friendly and helpful for beginners because it provides so much guidance. It allows users to customise several ready-made templates or users may also start designing a website from scratch. Another Wix feature that caught my attention was the spacious interface view of the edit mode, where the editing tools do not overcrowd the screen.

Overall, it was a fun and meaningful learning experience. Although the personalisation experience was limited to the free basic features, it was still a worthwhile start. In the end, I was able to construct a website that was aesthetically pleasing, while being informative and professional nonetheless.

This assignment was my favourite part of the whole course. I was always interested in creating a website. However, I never knew how or where to start. This assignment helped me to understand of creating a fully functioning website from A to Z. I have always thought that making a website is an easy process. But after having actually completed my website, it was a lot more tiring than I thought. Using Wix was very interesting because it helped me to easily create my website. But the process and the amount of time that it took astonished me. I will never look at a website the same way again because now I finally understand the amount of work and dedication that it needs in order for it to be up there on the internet.

Hi, Dr. and everyone. Glad to share my feelings after this mini task.

Actually at first I was a little confused when I first knew what we were going to accomplish. Even though I knew its connection with F2F, but in fact, there is very little understanding of CMC.

Based on the very clear information provided and the guidance and help of the Dr., I can understand the specific learning content step by step and know from which aspects and angles I should read and analyze the literature.

I also understand the importance of reading literature with a critical mindset.Only in this way can I be more interested in continuing to read and understand the article more deeply. In addition, I can also connect the content with the knowledge I have learned, so that the newly acquired knowledge can truly become digestible content.

Overall, although this was a very difficult task for me, it was still a meaningful learning experience, and this task really inspired me to want to know more about CMC. And also Dr. thank you for your help.

So we chose to have the discussion first. I think one of the difficulties in this online discussion is in our choosing the right time to negotiate, because it is important to find a time that is convenient for everyone. In addition, during the process of recording the google meet, we also had some problems, because our first recording was not successful, we made three recordings, so this let me know that in teamwork, we need to cooperate with each other, so that this work can be better accomplished.

It is essential to identify the differences and similarities between the two articles. Consequently, it is imperative to possess a profound comprehension of the theoretical frameworks and perspectives elucidated in the two articles under scrutiny. When encountering an individual with whom I am unfamiliar, I will conduct extensive research on the subject in question, summarize the pertinent information, and analyze it through my own understanding.

It can see that both have their prons and cons of it.

To complete the task give, I have read the given articles and pick the main points for me to eloborate and explain it using Flip and record with the slides presentation. Each member brought different articles and perspectives, and through discussion, we were able to complement and refine each other's understanding of CMC. Teamwork not only improved the depth and breadth of our analysis of the problem, but also taught us how to collaborate effectively to accomplish the task together. The articles chosen by the team members were all unique and covered different aspects of CMC. Through sharing and discussion, we were able to examine the same topic from multiple perspectives and gain a more comprehensive and stereotyped understanding.

I've just shared two fantastic videos on Flip about the CMC programme. One explores different forms of communication, and the other introduces Social Information Processing Theory (SIPT). These videos really got me thinking about the way we communicate in the digital age.

The first video is a real eye-opener! It reveals the incredible complexity of different forms of communication in the computer medium. By discussing tools such as email, social media, instant messaging, etc., I was amazed to realise that in the modern world, we can communicate with others through multiple channels! This made me realise that we have the power to be flexible and adapt to different forms of communication. We can embrace the challenges and opportunities that each form may bring!

Secondly, the second video introduced the Social Information Processing Theory, which is an amazing theory that explores how people process and interpret information transmitted through CMC. This really got me thinking about how individuals process information in the digital environment. I began to think about how I understand and interpret information when reading emails, browsing social media or participating in online forums. It was a fascinating process! This theory opened my eyes to a whole new way of understanding the complexities of digital communication.

The sharing of these two videos made me realise that in the digital age, we have the incredible opportunity to understand different forms of communication and how people process information within these forms. These reflections will help me to better cope with the challenges of communication in modern society and to communicate and interact more effectively in the digital environment. I can't wait to put these new skills into practice! I am thrilled to say that the content of these courses has not only enhanced my learning, but also provided me with invaluable insights for my future academic and professional career.

After critically reviewing the two articles on computer-mediated communication (CMC) in language education, it becomes evident that both pieces offer significant contributions to the field.

Firstly, they address crucial aspects of CMC and language education, emphasizing the relevance of technology in modern learning environments. Article 1 delves into the impact of virtual exchanges on teacher candidates' development, while Article 2 explores the integration of synchronous video CMC technologies into L2 Spanish teaching. These topics resonate strongly in today's digital era, where technology plays an increasingly vital role in education.

Secondly, both articles showcase innovative approaches to language education through the utilization of CMC technologies. Article 1 introduces virtual exchanges as a means for real-time language teaching practice and intercultural communication, while Article 2 explores the enhancement of students' oral fluency and linguistic skills through one-on-one interactions with native speakers via SVCMC technologies.

Furthermore, empirical support strengthens the credibility of both articles. Article 1 draws from pre- and post-surveys, journal reflections, and audio recordings analysis, demonstrating the positive impact of virtual exchanges on teacher candidates' development. Similarly, Article 2 employs a cognitive-interactionist approach to analyze SVCMC activities, highlighting their potential for promoting L2 development.

However, each article has its strengths and weaknesses. Article 1 impresses with its innovative approach and empirical support but faces limitations in scope and methodology. Conversely, Article 2 shines in its focus on practical language learning activities and theoretical framework but encounters challenges in transcription accuracy and sample representativeness.

Despite these differences, both articles underscore the importance of technology integration and reflective practices in language education. While they share a common goal of enhancing language learning outcomes, their unique contexts, methodologies, and participant interactions provide valuable insights for educators navigating the digital age. Ultimately, these articles contribute to the ongoing discourse on optimizing language education in diverse educational settings.

However, I also had some doubts about the two articles we found, because although both articles were related to CMC and network behavior and language learning, in the process of in-depth analysis, I felt that there were great differences between them, and in order to solve this problem, I looked for related studies to conduct a parallel analysis, which showed us the importance of choosing articles. However, it also made me realize that it is precisely because there are some confusions that we should keep exploring and going deeper into the research to learn more in the process.

Ideas and thoughts about more e-portfolio, I also incorporated them into my wix, and I think that this assignment gave me a different experience to understand what I learned in this course and how I can combine my knowledge with practice in my future study and work.

I read two articles and have a brief understanding of CMC. First, CMC brings convenience to public life and makes people's communication no longer limited by time and space. However, CMC may make people become unfamiliar, and the birth of high technology may make the distance between people become further, and the communication between people loses the benefit of expression and tone. It's not always easy to talk about things, so I think it's important to take a critical look at it and use the power of CMC while having face-to-face conversations with people from time to time.

My team members and I found two articles about CMC. This article dives into a fascinating and often overlooked aspect of computer-mediated communication (CMC) - the role of lurkers or passive participants. It sheds light on the potential influence these non-visible participants have on communication dynamics, which is an area that definitely warrants more attention in research.

I appreciate how the article not only identifies the existence of lurkers but also acknowledges their potential impact on communication dynamics, despite their lack of active engagement. It's a reminder that participation in CMC goes beyond visible contributions and encompasses various forms of engagement that may not be immediately apparent.

The suggestions for researching lurkers and studying communication visibility through different lenses such as technological features, user behaviors, and organizational policies are valuable. These approaches offer a comprehensive way to understand how communication visibility evolves in digital spaces and its implications for social interactions.

Overall, I find the article insightful and thought-provoking, prompting researchers and practitioners alike to reconsider how we perceive and study participation in digital communication environments. It also highlights the need for more nuanced methods and theories to capture the complexities of CMC participation beyond just active engagement.
