1. I, John Locke, disagree with the king having ownership of their people. The government should depend on the people's will, thus not becoming tyrannical, nor oppressive. By providing protection, in exchange of ownership of the people, the king is then acting as a tyrant, and as such can oppress the people with ease. The people would have no say in the kings decisions, policies, or laws. the king would be violating all the natural rights of the people by owing them.
2. I, Baron de Montesquieu, wholeheartedly disagree with the king holding power to make laws. Such an act would be allowing the king to be tyrannical, and thus oppressive to the people. In order to prevent such an atrocity, the government should be divided in separate parts, with each one carrying out a specific role in the gov't. Even if the king discussed his decision with his favorite court advisers, he'd still be a tyrant for getting help in making a law does not equate giving his helpers the power to enforce or pass the law themselves.
3. I, Thomas Hobbes, disagree with a gov't reflecting the role of the people. People, by nature, are wild and thus should have no say in government. The Government would then control the people to keep them in check, and preventing them from acting upon their nature. A gov't that allows the people's will to be free would most certainly lead to insane amounts of crime.
4. I, Rousseau, agree the definition freedom is not being subject to the will of others. People, by nature, are equal and free, and thus aren't forced to submit to others, but become corrupt in civilization. In order, to maintain complete order certain rights must be given up to be a part of society and exchange are protected by the government. If the people break this contract of sorts the gov't in turn should punish them, and if the gov't breaks the contract the people have the right to rebel and start their own gov't.

The class as a whole today wasn't at all bad. In the team building exercise I slightly panicked since i didn't want to interrupt people talking to each other. In the DOI analysis the teamwork did not at all feel bad, we discussed the information and all took part in sharing the information to the class. The liberty kids video was interesting, and left me wondering if Ben Franklin was actually carried into the convention (or what they call it). One of the TED videos said that Rhode Island didn't attend the convention at all so I wonder if it agreed with the decisions made in the convention. I feel like it really cleared up some things in the US constitution for me.
12/27/18
