Even though Laurie disagreed about what her mother said about the wave, her thought  changed about the wave when they come to class the next morning and  mr.ross give everyone a membership card, and gives certain student power over other student. She opened the envelope and read about a letter about a boy and the wave. Her thoughts about the wave were beginning to come into focus. Laurie wanted to save Amy from what the Wave was teachig, and she decided to show her the artical that was being published in the Grapevine,hoping it would have changed her perspective and her mind on what the wave really was. We also see Mr.Ross coming to terms with his experiment going wrong, and the fact that people were starting to notice the extent of his brainwashing exercise.Robert Billings also started to explore the extent of his duties. He said that to sit at the top of the bleachers she would have to do the wave salute. Laurie already did not like the wave because it was changing people but she got angry when he said this. They had the argument and by the end everyone was looking at them and Brad was forced to let her go and sit. Brad did not want to cause a seen. Even students who aren't even in his history class are coming to sit in on his lessons and are even skipping their classes to be in his class. Also one thing he notices that the answers they give in class and in their homework assignments are short they don't have a lot of thought behind them.
