I also didn't know that owners were willing to go to extreme measures to find slaves that ran away like making broadsides. I learned about broadsides and that they were used to find runaway slaves and to let people know there were slaves for sale. I also learned about the working and living conditions slaves had, like pregnant woman had to work up until the baby was born. I would still like to know how runaway slaves started their new lives. I also learned that they had auction for the slaves and most of the time at the auctions family where separated form each other. Some were treated worse then others. But either way none were treated as equal as the whites. If a slave ran away they would be punished very brutally.
