From my interview with Grace I gathered that she is a coolheaded ,confident and a patient friend in difficult situations.

Also, I found out that she enjoyed studying how the human body functions in Biology.

These qualities are represented by the animated brains; queen of relaxation(middle), thinking positive (left) and curious (right).

I created a hand in which each finger and palm is a different colour. The palm represents a difficult circumstance. Whereas, the fingers symbolise
positivity and was labelled with closely connected manners (easy going, cool, calm, composed and nonchalant) .This helped build the hand’s structure.

I digitally sketched the hand’s three nerves control function; the median, ulnar, and radial nerves.

As well as the human body being one of Grace’s interest. The lines are correctly structured. In contrast to the randomly arranged curved lines within the background. They represent Grace as being a cheerful and a self-confident person.

I chose two complementary colours for the background; pink and grey because they equally look appealing to the eyes. This will allow the curved lines, misspelt and misplaced calligraphy term “free spirited” to achieve attention.

I deliberately misspelt the term “free spirited”, to represent that the term is still recognised, likewise Grace’s belief about living her own life, no matter what obstacles she may face, Grace will always be Grace.

For my design I chose to focus on the fact Elana liked David Bowie, plants and that her chosen slogan was "🤬 it". I positioned the lighting bolt from one of David Bowies most famous album covers and put it in the centre but instead of making it out of block colour and solid lines I used the pen tool to draw flowers and leaves to form the shape. For these I took inspiration from the style of some traditional tattoos as I know she has a couple of tattoos herself. As the original lightning bolt is red and blue I used those colours along with white to give more contrast between the dark background and the typography and flowers in the foreground. With the text I aligned it up with the slant of the lightning bolt to echo it's shape throughout the flag which is also emphasised by using the same slogan twice.

He gave me an answer of "Art class" in response to his favourite lesson in school. Here I tried to represent an art book with a painting styled theme. Using the paint brush and other smaller effects as actual Google sheet designed item. The rest was a mix of photoshop assets designed to give that paint dripping effect.

I had a lot of answers to work with when making Tommy's flag. I wanted to focus on more of the morbid answers that she gave me as I thought they would look better and I felt I could more easily illustrate. I used mainly black in colour as the answers she gave me were indeed interesting. I used red with the word kill, for obvious reasons. I used Helvetica Neue Bold as its my favourite font to use and I feel it fits the theme of what I was going for. She also said shed want to try human flesh if she was on death row; so behind the text is a Jeffery Dahmer's infamous mugshot; I used an online threshold filter to edit the photo and then I drew over it using sheet's built in drawing editor.

I chose to keep the layout clear making sure all aspects could be visibly seen. I chose to do a striped background for all of them with different colours as this again kept with the theme of the pop art I was trying to get across.

For my flag design I chose to create a fever dream style image by layering images and word art, inspired by the lethal injection, stemming from Matts' answer to the ice breaker question: what would your last meal be. I chose the colour palette from the outfit he was wearing in the 'interview' portion of our first day. He also mentioned that he would be a digestive if he could be a biscuit due to its' simplicity which I tried to honour though my design while including the key aspects of the gathered information. I felt it was important to include his personal hero as Robin Williams' suicide ties in with the overall theme of death.

This included many different colours and styles, I therefore knew I needed to incorporate this into my flag design. My design is a pixel art inspired piece, based off the ‘cyber punk’ trend. The aspects you can see on this design are based around Honor’s skeleton with butterfly wings tattoo, located on her inner bicep. To visually communicate this detail I developed my design into a snake skull, amidst three small butterflies.

Additionally, when talking to Honor I learnt she enjoys cutting and sewing clothing to best suit her personal fashion sense. I admired this and communicated this through featuring a pair of fabric scissors and a running sewing stitch into the bottom right half of the design.

I feel this flag represents my interview with Honor successfully in a visually appealing and stylistic way.

I have chosen to include a lot of Harry’s tattoos as his tattoos are something a lot of people talk about, I also think this was a good idea because they bring the piece together and show his style. I also made sure I incorporated his music into the flag, whether that be through his quotes, vinyl’s (which she collects) or showing the streaming of Ella’s favourite song of his, Kiwi.

Joshua said his ideal superpower would to control time, and explained how it would essentially be like teleporting which was an aspect i never considered, i found this interesting and tried to visualise how one could go backwards and forwards in time, teleporting between timelines - this is what the sporadic coloured lines represent, with the purple one being the "natural flow of time" and the red and blue ones the "manipulated flow of time. i wanted the flag to look like it was on a chart so i incorporated a checked pattern into the background using different shades of grey to contrast with the coloured lines, but not in too much of a jarring way. hopefully that all makes sense and i wasn't waffling.

Interviewee- Julia

The part of the interview I focused on more on was the ideas such as ideal holiday spots as I knew there was a plethora of design and illustrated objects synonymous with every country and would fit well in my design. Moreover, I wanted to find themes that could cohesively come together in one image to make up a bigger picture.

To communicate their interests, I decided to create an old, retro postcard design inspired by their dream vacation of Bora Bora. This exotic Polynesian island reminded me of the Hawaiian postcards that portrayed the beautiful islands and sea landscape. I took this concept and designed the infamous islands and clear turquoise waters. After some research, I noticed that they often included boats and mini bungalows where people stayed. In order to make it more personal, I shaped the boats to resemble a bourbon biscuit which is a favourite of the interviewee and thought this worked well to depict it as boats over the water. Also, I included a 1st class stamp of the Queen to further create the postcard layout and also links to the British Royal family as the interviewee expressed her interest in Princess Diana. For the typography of this piece, I used a soft and italic sans serif font to mimic other postcard designs and to create something that was more fun and appealing. For the colour I used a bold orange hue which I thought would contrast well with the blue, turquoise background as they are complimentary colours.

Lily's Flag - Tri

The answers and interests I discovered from Lily linked together quite well which gave me a lot to work with. The basis of my flag is revolved around Lily's favourite band, Pulp, who are an English indie-rock band from the '70s. From this, I drew a silhouetted version of Jarvis Cocker (the lead singer) - using Inkscape - from one of his iconic photos. I drew reference to the band name: "Pulp", a hit song from the band: "Disco 2000" and the year they formed: "1978". Lily also mentioned she really liked to works of Pop Artists, eg: Andy Warhol, and the 70s punk posters aesthetic, which is where the bright colours and blocky theme of the flag comes from. Interestingly, this links quite well with the band as Rock and Punk-Rock posters from the 70s and 80s were heavily influenced by the style of pop artists. Furthermore, Lily takes particular interest in French music and fashion, and I incorporated this by drawing a silhouette of a women in what would be a typically French outfit, and pasted this using typically pop artists characteristics, such as the complementary colours, repetition and arrangement. Other choices I made were mostly inspired by posters and flyers, for example: the segmented structure of the flag is influenced by 70s posters I referenced for punk bands, including the barcode effect in the corner; the various fonts and font sizes used for the numbers "1978" I felt were reminiscent of the newspaper cuts out, and collage-type music posters. On top of this, I experimented with the different Add-Ons and tools Sheets provided, for example merging cells and changing borders to create different textures and colours that further characterised this pop-art/punk inspired flag.

For this flag, I wanted to combine a variety of different answers which were given to me by Slessor. I opted for the idea of doing a hippo teddy (her favourite personal possession) and apply different concepts to it. Slessor told me about her likeness for Baby Metal and Rico Nasty (If you had a talk show, who would your first three guests be?) so I did the hippo wearing a baby metal shirt and applied the style of Rico Nasty which is unique and punk inspired, by adding things such as the piercings and the hair spikes. She also stated that she is into Horror themed books and her current read is The Possession by Michael Rutger. I liked the concept of applying these answers within to the flag so created a “possessed” version of the Hippo. For the possessed hippo I applied a filter effect over the original drawing, my reasoning for this was because people tend to associate evil with darker colours and tones, so I wanted to clearly portray the contrast between them in the flag.

I have never imagined using google sheets in an artistic manner so this was a daunting task that forced me to be resourceful and mix different elements: text, pixel art, png images. The most obvious inspiration I got for this design was the film Coraline, which Liv said she would like the play the title character in. I referenced that film here through the pixel art house and the black buttons floating in space. Liv also said if she could be a biscuit she would be a party ring, as a result, this influenced the colour palette of this piece, conveniently, the colours of the Coraline house match the party rings well; I also scattered the biscuits throughout the scene. Additionally, I included a question I asked and Liv's response which I found quite funny.

After talking with Millie I was intrigued by her interest in perplex concepts, such as her ideal superpower being time manipulation, and one of her favourite movies being Inception (based off of lucid dreaming). From this I created a link between the two and constructed a repeated spiral pattern that represents the rotation of time and the spinning top in Inception. However, I created the spiral with an illusion effect to mess with the eyes, as the movie Inception and the concept of time does with our minds. I also kept the flag pixelated since it adds to the illusion effect.
Millie brought up that her favourite colour is green, so I chose a shade of green that contrasted well with the red cross, directing equal focus for each section of the flag. The red cross is a mention towards Millie being from Switzerland, so I placed the cross from the Switzerland flag within the spiral, and created a pattern within the cross to continue the illusion.
In the corners there are two hourglass timers to further implement the concept of time, and I made the borders look like film strip as a classic movie symbol.

I made Grace’s flag playful and fun because I felt like it captured her personality after meeting her. Grace’s life slogan was ‘Everything happens for a reason’, I decided to use this in the flag to play around with typography. When Grace spoke about her personal hero, Aimee Louwood, she explained that it was because she speaks about female empowerment and body positivity. I decided to make the typeface bold and enlarge the point size, to represent Grace’s hero ‘speaking out’ loudly. Grace said her last meal would include party rings, so I added some pastel coloured rings. I added these in various sizes and tried not to make it uniform. I think the structured typeface and the scattered imagery is a good contrast.

He said his favourite personal possession was his earphones so I decided to combine the two. He is currently reading the book "happiness in design" and soI added smiley faces to reflect this. The glitch effect ties in with the idea of a record scratch. In terms of a motto to live by, he said he would say something about not caring what other people think and not being rude. I feel this flag reflects the vibe that I got from josh during the icebreaker interview.

Khaleeqa's vacation of choice was Japan and from this, I took inspiration from traditional Japanese patterns which include lots of repetition and overlapping as well as use of the colours red and blue. I decided that I would also try to implement Khaleeqa's love of music and album cover art into my flag having the reoccurring pattern as what could be vinyl or CD. For Khaleeqas favourite biscuit (chocolate digestive) I used her explanation of the biscuit having two completely different sides but yet both being amazing. This instantly made me think of inverted colours and how I could have half the design split into two colours and decided on having it be sporadic and random to try and look almost like two different versions of the same pattern had intertwined. Khaleeqa's slogan was work in progress so I tried to implement that as well by having only one of the borders completely finished, and using the text to create different patterns by reshaping it and only showing parts of the slogan to show that it may not be complete (work in progress).

She told me that her favourite food was the catsu curry from Wagamamas so I decided to base my design around this. - adapting the Wagamamas logo, creating a flag to fit Wagamamas design style etc. I also tried to use symbolism, for example, by using a crown to represent princess Diana -someone famous Evie would like to meet- and making my flag nice and bright to represent her positive answers and personality. I also chose to do a mix of illustration and real life pictures. I did this because the real life pictures stand out in comparison to represent her true feelings.

This was the reason for making such a chaotic and colourful flag, with images and icons that represented his answers. I tried to add in humour to my flag by merging some of his answers together such as having Nicholas Angel (Hot Fuzz) holding a fajita instead of his gun, combining the question “which character would you want to play?” and “what is your last meal?”. This gives my flag a fun and light-hearted feel, which worked well with the pixel art style I used to create my work.

I wanted to create a gradient effect while staying as close to the spreadsheet format as possible. I liked the combination of different answers Kay gave - some were very neutral and expected answers (hence the use of shades of grey) while others were more intense (hence the use of red). One of the main things I remember from my conversation with Kay was her saying her thoughts were always scattered so I decided to scribble through my flag.

I layered the phrase 'why not' on top in complimenting colours as that would be Georgia's chosen slogan and it's in this repetitive type design to mirror the matrix's cover with the ones and zeros as that was her favourite film. I went for a more simplistic style making the profiterole pixelated and i think this works well with the design of the flag :)

For my flag design, I went with a more simplistic/abstract approach. I chose certain shapes and colours to represent different answers I received in my interview. For example, her ideal holiday locations included tropical locations like the Maldives, so the yellow circle as well as the brown, green and blue represent things often found there like sunshine, palm trees and the ocean. The red diamond symbolises Harley Quinn, who was the movie character she would like to play. She is often seen wearing the colour red and diamond patterns in the movies and comics. Her favourite holiday as of now was to Greece, so I incorporated the white stripes that are found on the Greek flag. Finally, she said she’d like their meal to be sushi, so I added in a little sushi roll at the bottom.

From my interview with Aisha, I found out that the style of work they like the most is distortion. So from this I tried to create something similar for the background of my flag but Excel isn't something that I'm very familiar with so I just stuck to something simple. I also found that The Silence of The Lambs is one of Aisha's favourite films, so I used the moth from the poster for the main focus of my flag. I edited this on Illustrator then added the image to my spreadsheet. I found that Aisha also collects stickers so I tried to include this on my flag too by using the shape tool. I stuck to a black and white theme for my flag because I thought it represented the answers I got and Aisha more than bright colours do. Since they like the theme of horror and I also found that heavy metal was their favourite genre of music so I thought a darker theme would best represent Aisha's interests.

I also made the overall colour scheme quite dark, mainly the background to provide a strong contrast between that and the lemon to make it stand out. I chose an image of the city to base my design around and incorporated some well known facts about the area such as the five boroughs. I used text to create a structured design around the central image whilst also using shapes to bring the design together. Charlie's favourite film is wolf of Wall street so I hinted to this by using the wall street address. I created an outline of a plane to push the idea of travel and kept the shape as an outline to match the "New York City" title. I chose the softer colours because they compliment the sky image and create a calm tone.

I made a flag for Caitlin and I focussed on the favourite biscuit question and the fact Caitlin liked horror films -especially Silence of the Lambs. These answers inspired my colour choices, the red symbolising the gore of horror, yellow for its feature in the movie poster for Silence of the Lambs and the grey circles, denoting Oreos. I went for a layered approach with shapes as I felt like this showed the muddled and quite random answers in the icebreaker challenge.

I then developed this into a typography-heavy repeating pattern, referencing colour palettes of various different answers Imi had given in the interview, e.g loves Kill Bill so used yellow/black colourway, most memorable vacation was Portugal so used green/red colourway, would be a Party Ring so pastel blue/pink colourway etc.

This means creating an image that was relevant to the Greek islands, with given elements such as water in focus. The colours used in this flag are mostly light colour tones. Colours such as ocean light blue, green nature, etc. I also added some features as typical greek buildings to create a certain greek aesthetic.

When first talking to Jenny, she explained her adoration of Cher, (very specifically ‘Cher from 30 years ago!’) and how not only was she Jenny’s personal hero, but she would also love to host Cher on a talk show. She also explained that her death row meal would simply be fried chicken, which combined with talk shows, reminded me of ‘Chicken Shop Date’, a spoof dating show in which presenter Amelia Dimolenberg interviews an array of influencers, rappers and Tik-Tok stars, all over fried chicken. While watching episodes, I was always intrigued by the sometimes-odd chicken box designs, which gave me the idea to link both Cher and chicken together in holy fried matrimony.

I felt that just making my own version of a chicken box wasn’t very flag-like, so I opted to combine this into a small ad, promoting the imaginary chicken shop, which was to be based in Warrington (Jenny said this was the last place she went to for the first time). Combined with cheesy logo set in a 10-pointed star (also known as a decagram), very similar to hand written prices on these shapes always seen in local takeaways and fried chicken establishments. I even opted for a KFC - style serif font for the title of ‘Cher-style Wings’, since I feel most local chicken shops attempt to brand themselves in KFC’s style. That was also why I decided to stick with a simple red, white and black colour scheme for the box and text.

Since KFC’s logo is a circle with an image of the Colonel, I decided to emulate this but with an image of Cher, created in a similar style, again with mainly red, white and black being used.

‘Finger-Lickin Good!’ is KFC’s tagline, which is also commonly used on their packaging - so I used Jenny’s slogan answer on the side of my box (‘Expect the worst, hope for the best’).

The overall style of my ad/flag is very basic, again much like most local fried chicken shops with design not at the forefront of their minds.

I hope Jenny enjoys this flag and hopes to one day try some ‘Cher-style’ Wings. :)

I thought the phrase ‘Say Cheese’, joined these ideas well. I based the background of the flag on my interviewees shirt, as it seemed he had a clear style. I also decided to design my flag around a vintage advert, as I thought the concept of showcasing someone or something, is well done in advertisement.

For Zuza's flag, I drew most of my inspiration from the fact that they are currently reading the Great Gatsby. They talked about how they enjoyed reading classic books and I thought this was an interesting quality about them. I chose to use a very simplistic colour scheme which was inspired to a cover of one of the editions of the Great Gatsby. Then green light is an intricate part of the story so I chose to draw focus on that my centring it and incorporating it into the spider. Zuza said that if they could be any character from any movie they would like to be Black Widow from the Marvel universe. I thought this reflected a lot about their character so I really wanted to include it into the flag. I invidually filled in each square to make the shapes I wanted and added shading by making certain boxes darker, I think this adds a lot of depth to the design. The overall look of the flag reminds me of ancient history which Zuza also mentioned they were interested in when talking about where they'd like to visit.

In the flag design, I focused on the slogan 'YOLO' which Molly answered for the question 'if you were to choose a well-known slogan'. When i think of this slogan, I often relate it to chaos so the repetition of the YOLO and the scribbles over the typography relates to that chaotic feeling. I also added the unabbreviated version of the quote at the bottom of the flag so it stands out on the page, as well as the font being in red. Molly also said she likes Harry Styles and her favourite song is Cherry so I added cherries down one side of the flag and some hearts in-between to break them up. The pink and blue colours relate to the colour scheme on Harry Styles' second album which she also likes. Molly also said she collects records so I added illustrations of vinyl records down the right side of the flag and kept the same pink and blue colour scheme. I also added some lyrics from another Harry styles song at the bottom of the flag.

After speaking to Amelia, I was inspired by the subtle but quirky contrasts in her style and personality: on the one hand she has this beautiful, natural blonde hair, with blue eyes and dresses in pinks, and on the other she loves horror movies, spices up her outfits with punky platform boots and owns a big (but very cute) German shepherd. We also spoke about the differences in where we grew up, with Amelia living just outside of Leeds and me coming from London, I found hearing her experience really interesting. In light of this, I came up with the concept of Amelia as the ‘Northern Barbie’ and created a collage which I feel represents this idea. I used a format in google sheets which allowed me to turn pictures into pixels and then layered different motifs inspired by Amelia like her dog and her job at the pub to create a collage. Overall I wanted to create a cooler, grungy spin on Barbie and use oxymoronic images to show this side of Amelia!

Peace is all about achieving happiness with no disturbance so to represent this I used very happy/ vibrant flowers however, the dull/grey background reflects all the negativity in the world. I used various typography to represent each word for example; I wanted the word 'protect' to be a very bold/uppercase font to reflect the meaning of the word and to be a guard to something. I wanted to use the peace sign within my flag somewhere so I incorporated it within my quote by replacing the 'O'.

Not only was I inspired by KFC, but also by the fact that he came to Leeds from Manchester, and after doing some research, I found that Manchester's 'colours' are red, yellow and black (Manchester United) and, KFC is known worldwide for its red and white colours, which then led me into combing the two colour schemes into one. This flag is meant to represent a trip back to Manchester from Leeds and having a meal at KFC hence the receipt and the train ticket, hopefully adding a sense of nostalgia.

I really liked the outcome of the bird as it’s pixelated which I believe complements the spreadsheet columns well.

This also links nicely to her slogan which is ‘do what makes you happy and live your life’. When she told me this, I instantly thought about freedom and the feeling of being free, just like a bird flying in the sky. Hence my choice of my design for the background.

I decided to translate this quote to French as her chosen destination to go on vacation for the rest of her life would be France.

Her choice of destination also corresponds with the colour scheme I used for my background and text - blue, white and red matching the French flag.

She mentioned a love for New York based off a past trip, collecting plants and crystals as well as a love for ramen she ate once. I really wanted to incorporate elements of the plants and crystals within the ramen bowl I included, in place of what should normally be veg or protein. I even drew a plant climbing up the noodles. I chose simple colours that would best represent these objects keeping relatively to softer shades rather than an explicit aesthetic or colour palette. I then created a city skyline to represent New York City using colours that naturally suited a sunset whilst simultaneously complimenting the existing colours within the ramen illustration.

Initially, this made me think of a sunset on a clear night as when in hot countries the landscape and sunsets are famously beautiful. I decided to recreate a sunset using excel by colouring in the pixels. I took inspiration from an existing pixel art sunset. I used purple colours mainly for the background and then used orange, yellow and red for the sun. This flag is more representational and simple. I used the colour tool to colour the cells in the spreadsheet. I started creating the sun first and focused on making a gradient. I then did the reflection of the sun using slightly darker colours and then I made the background.

I went down the route of using an abstract style and keeping the blocks big to make to process of representing the foods more awkward, making them less distinctive. The three shapes I felt could balance well from each other and when the cross over start to make more shapes within the picture.

After asking Ben a series of questions from the interview task, I asked who he'd be if he could cast in a movie and he told me it would be the professor from the Money Heist. I decided to insert a design that I made of the professor on to spreadsheet with a style that looks fictional as he also said he likes hunger games which is another good fictional story, and goes with the overall colour theme of the show which is red.
Another answer that stood out to me was that if the had a superpower he would want to time travel, so I incorporated this by inserting numbers which give a time travelling clock affect. I then added money symbols in the background to go with the overall theme of the money heist.

She also told me that she was born in italy so I decided to incorporate the italian flag.

I decided to put a rat in the middle of my Nicola's flag because they themselves have few rat pets which seemed close to their heart. The rat has a flower on its head- as it represents an iconic look of an American activist Marsha P. Johnson who Nicola would want to meet. As I was doing my research on this design I found this man really fascinating so I decided to put more things that resemble his beliefs. That's why I put activist and feminist symbols and a pride flag on corners. I also drew a vegan symbol on the left corner due to the fact Nicola is vegan. I believe those values are important for Nicola so they could not be missing on my flag design. In the end, I decided to put "Gandalf's hat/ dear" pattern to represents Nicola's interest in fantasy books.

whilst making this flag i did not have a wide variety of pointers to go off, so i attempted to combine and link together some of the info to create a coherent design. One of the questions i asked was something embarrassing that had happened to her, Lily answered with how she missed the last day of Reading festival as her and her mate overslept. I believe the diary style design at the top of the flag is successful as it combines this idea with other information like Lily's previous job and interests, in a unique and easily digestible way. As this task was required to be completed on google sheets, i decided to also create a large bag of chips at the bottom utilizing the ability to colour individual/rows of cells, to create the fries. This portion of the flag was inspired when Lily told me that despite her previous work at a chip shop, she would still have fish and chips as her 'death row' final meal. ( i have uploaded a .jpg of my design as i have tried many times to upload the .pdf version but it keep deleting large areas of my flag)

I interviewed my classmate Gabi for the project. Gabi talked about her love for Harry Styles, Disney, Emma Watson, the movie Twilight, Vincent Van Gogh, her grandmother's love for roses, etc, throughout our conversation. To utilise as my flag, I opted to concentrate on these areas of the interview.

Because I enjoy building collages, I took photographs from Google to make a collage of photos that I believe best depict Gabi and her hobbies. As she mentioned her fondness for romance novels, I also utilised the romantic colour red as the background to my painting.

I recreated the LUFC badge because it was the last place Gabi visited, and I believe that football is an important aspect of Leeds city and symbolises it well. As she stated her fondness for Disney, I used the Disney typeface as typography for the "Harry Styles" logo.

I also made trees by filling the blocks with a range of colours and forming a similar shape. I chose trees to represent Gabi's favourite movie, Twilight, as well as her favourite character, Alice, who is a vampire who frequently hides in the forest. I believe this effectively visually communicates Gabi's favourite character.

Gabi believes she's "sweet inside like a Jammy dodger," so I added a similar splatter pattern that's found on the top of Jammy dodger biscuits. To match Gabi's fun demeanour, I tried to go with a similar colour scheme of reds with a flash of colour.

My flag was designed for Sam. I decided to focus mainly on his chosen quote and express some of his others answers visually to support the typography. The day we met he wore a pink and red t shirt which inspired the chosen colour theme, contrasted against a strong black background to bring in his love for nightlife. I experimented with opacity levels within the shapes to represent club/rave lighting, paired with an abstract city skyline as Sam has just moved to this new city and I wanted to celebrate that.

I wanted to incorporated the iconic yellow checked outfit that Cher wears and use the pattern but making it more abstract and less structured than the original pattern. I chose to not add text/ images as I like the simplicity of the design by itself.

The limitations of sheets made it a challenging task meaning it was difficult to reach the level of detail that i had originally imagined... however it was an eye opener to the fact that you can create art on any medium. My flag is composed of two dogs, one upside down back to back with the other upward facing, this a nod to back2back sets within DJ culture, inspired by Eve's recent visit to a techno rave. I have also incorporated typography into my flag, the word tek is abstractly formed across the two dogs. Overall I am pleased with the result and the new skills I have acquired using sheets.

During the interview I also asked her birthday as I enjoy including numbers into my work as I think it looks a little bit more interesting and can fill space, it also adds to the horror poster idea. Her well known slogan was “YOLO” so I made sure to include it as well as her name to make the flag a bit more personal to her. Most of the detail was focused in the middle of the work and expanded out to draw attention to the centre, I also chose to create this in a pixel format to support the idea of using spreadsheets.

I wanted to also use the queens face in the corner and repeat Molly's slogan on one side so it was reminiscent of a post card; possibly from Paris where Molly had wanted to stay. the use of the roast potatoes seemed playful but also minimized the randomness of an already already confusing scenario of the queen being a Teletubbies sun in Paris - for some reason I think it makes the flag slightly more cohesive.

The choice of biscuit was a skittles cookie. I thought this was a good opportunity to play with fun colours and patterns. When I asked Sabah which one super power she wanted, Sabah chose perfectionism. After finding out more about her I found she was a very structured and organized and doesn't like when things don't go to plan or last minute changes. This is why I designed a repeating pattern, instead of a picture. The pattern represtents structure and order but using the recognised bright colours from skittles to show Sabah's fun and unique personality.

When chatting with Alfie, we gathered quite quickly that we both had a great interest in TV & Film. Alfie told me that '300' was one of his favourites and since I hadn't had the chance to see it before, it gave me the perfect opportunity to do some further research.

After watching the film, I felt like i wanted to make the flag appear as a sort of Promotional piece that could go alongside the film back when it was released. This proved difficult though since we needed to design it all on sheets, a program I am not very familiar with. I had decided to make this a Pixel Art type piece to take advantage of the box layout that sheets works with. My main issue when making the flag was the fact that I was unable to properly resize the spreadsheet, therefore a design of high detail and many squares was out of the question. On the other hand I am rather impressed with my outcome and especially with the level of detail that I was able to put into the shield with the limitations given.

The piece in full represents the aftermath of a battle, showing a fallen spartan shield and a lone war flag, blowing freely in the desolate scape.
