#1 In Sumer and Babylon there was an unusual government that was an early form of democracy. There was an assembly of wise men elected by the people, who could overrule the king and get rid of laws if they didn't like it. These are called assemblies and each city state had its own king and own assembly.

#2 The Sumerians did not write down laws. The king passed a law and everyone was expected to learn and obey it. Breaking a law in Sumer you would be punished and the punishment is set for infraction. For example if you stole something you would get punished for what you stole. If you also offended the Gods you would be punished. Also all the laws of Babylon were taken from the laws of Sumer so they were pretty much the same thing.

#3 In Assyria the government was led by a king. Military officers were in charge of local governments. The king had other advisors as well, which was pulled from the noble. The most important of these advisors was the chief or the staff. They could decide on who can talk to the king and who can not. Scribes were the ones who could read or write. There was no assembly for who could overrule the king in Assyria. The king's word was law.

1. Sumerians were the first ones to use language in Mesopotamia. They used their way of language to remember things, ownership rights and business transactions.

2. People who lived in Mesopotamia used clay tablets and a stylus to wright things. Once it would harden, they would then have a hard permanent record.

3. People who lived in Mesopotamia used cuneiform which meant they used a simple picture to write.

4. Later on in Mesopotamia, people started to use some sounds and meanings. Some scribes would start using wedged edges on the stylus to make wedged shaped marks in the tablet/clay they were using.

5. Along with cuneiform, this meant that people drew a certain item to mean another. For example, someone drew a head on the clay tablet, meaning that they were talking about a head.

1).There are 4 different classes. The highest class is the king and his family. Some priests were at the top as well and they were all very wealthy. Middle class were craftsmen and civil servants. They worked very hard everyday and always tried to get higher up in class. The lower class were farmers and laborers. They worked a bit harder then the middle class did. Lastly are the slaves. They were owned by the king. They could be sold by different classes. Most of the slaves were found in war.

2). The clothing was made of wool. Men would wear long skirts and women would wear long dresses. Women would typically braid their hair and wear lots of jewelry. Men would have long hair and beards and every one of them wore makeup.

3). The most common home to live in was a house made of bricks. These houses would have 2-3 levels. The roof was flat so in the summer people would sleep on their roof to cool off. The brick helped people stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

4).

1-Aaqib Customs and traditions-Mesopotamia had many traditions that ran from their families and their relatives. Each type of Mesopotamian generation like the Sumer, Assyrians, Babylonians, had their different kinds of music. The Sumerians played music for the gods and they made a woodwind instrument that is made of bones or wood and when you blow into it, it makes a flute-like sound. The Babylonians also continued the tradition of Sumerian music and added it to a piano-like instrument. The Assyrians however liked music that related to war or had loud sounds. Some of the instruments they used were horns and loud bass drums.

2-The Assyrians were also known for their love of warfare and conquering other lands. The first assyrian empire ran from 2000 to 1450 BC.They conquered Ashur and alot of other city states.Unlike the Assyrians the Sumerians were very peaceful and they were friendly with the other empires such as the Akkadian empire.

3-THe babylonians also one time united with the akkadian empire and the difference between the two empire was just that they spoke different languages. The babylonians were also a bit more advanced than the sumerians and they made the wheel and the piano and more inventions like that.

1.there was a king and noble who made the laws and decided to declare war and decided how to honor the gods. Then there was a Assembly of wise men elected by the people who could overrule the king and say that is not a good law and to get rid of it. if he said no the assembly would say they don't want to go to war and for him to stop it. each city or state had its own assembly.
