The APP supports high achieving Year 12 students from low-income backgrounds across the UK to access top universities and careers. We offer support through our four pillars:

Pathways to Law 2024 - 2026

In partnership with the Sutton Trust and supported by the Convocation Trust, Pathways to Law offers eligible Year 12 students a unique chance to explore careers in law.

Participants will gain exposure to university-level learning, receive guidance on applying to top universities and take part in a range of enriching activities to help them on their journey to university and a successful career.

The programme runs from November (year 12) to Spring (year 13). For more information on Pathways to Law and to apply, interested students should apply here. Applications will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 20 October 2024.

Queen Mary Writing Competition

The Department of English at Queen Mary University of London is thrilled to announce a new writing competition for students in Years 11, 12, and 13 across the UK and we invite you to encourage your students to participate!

We’re offering two prizes: one for an original piece of creative writing and one for an essay. Winners will be selected by acclaimed novelist, Queen Mary graduate, Leo Vardiashvili. Leo was named as one of the Observer’s 10 Best New Novelists for 2024 and shortlisted for the prestigious Wilbur Smith Prize.

A Journey into the World of Pharmacology

A Mathematician Like Me Taster Day

Tuesday 5 November, 10am - 3pm (GMT)

If you have a student interested in studying Maths at university, then this taster day is for them!

Taking place on-campus at the School of Mathematical Sciences, our taster day will include  interactive sessions, group work, taster lectures and talks from current students. Students will get a feel for what it’s like to be mathematician at Queen Mary.

What: We are inviting guests from our network of businesses who have career experience in tech roles and organisations, to share insights and knowledge into the fast-growing sector.  This event will help students learn about the roles and routes into tech by introducing them to people already working in the sector. We want to demystify the industry – including talking about the array of opportunities available to get started in tech, career pathways, sharing knowledge and uncovering what it takes to be successful once you’ve got a job. Alongside guest speakers and panellists - soon to be announced - there will be lots of opportunities to network, ask questions and share perspectives. 

As part of the NCS programme, your students will have priority with around 10-15 spaces available per school.

1.                Imperial Life Sciences Scholars - for students interested in studying in Biology or Biochemistry at university. It will take place online from 28^th July to 1^st August. Further eligibility criteria can be found on the application form linked here.

2.                Imperial Chemistry Scholars - for students interested in studying Chemistry at university. It will take place online from 29th July to 1^st August, with a funded trip to Imperial’s South Kensington campus on 13th August. Further eligibility criteria can be found on the application form linked here.

These summer schools focus on academic enrichment and university preparedness, and support the supra-curricular engagement that highly selective universities such as Imperial College London look for in student applications. Please see the flyer attached for more information.

It is our aim to support students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in higher education to take part in a summer school. As such, we’d particularly keen to receive applications from students from these backgrounds.

To apply, students should complete the application form as soon as possible and before the final deadline at 12pm on Thursday 1^st  May.

There is no additional support required from teachers for those students that participate.

Pathways to Law: Years 12-13

Pathways to Law is an 18-month programme for 6th form / college students who live within commuting distance of LSE.

Pathways to Banking and Finance is an 18-month programme for 6th form / college students who live within commuting distance of LSE.

These sessions will provide an overview of the interview process; include a subject-themed interview workshop, delivered by academics from the university; and will offer students a chance to get any questions they may have about the process answered answered.

In Year 12 and curious about a career in law? Join us for our Law Industry Society with renowned firm Addleshaw Goddard. This immersive four-month programme will help you develop your skills, build your career aspirations + gain valuable experience for your CV/UCAS!

Foundation and higher apprenticeships available in Operations, Tech and Retail Banking. Explore the link below and find your perfect role!

The two-year programme prepares students for academic, social and cultural life at university. Students are organised into nine pathways based on what they would like to study. Students who successfully complete K+ also get a two-grade reduced offer for most courses at King's College London and a £1000 bursary in the first year if they decide to come to us.

This sustained and intensive programme runs for six months, with students meeting online in small groups every fortnight to analyse set pre-reading or complete problems under the supervision and guidance of a subject expert. The programme also includes admissions sessions with members of the Corpus Admissions Team and, if students successfully complete the programme, they will be in a strong position to make a competitive application to any selective university. 

To close the programme, students who have successfully completed it are invited for a short residential event at Corpus to celebrate their achievement, meet each other in-person, and meet current undergraduates at Cambridge!

This year the Pelican Programme will include the following subject streams:

• Architecture 

• Classics (also relevant for aspiring Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic, Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, or History of Art students)

• English

• Geography - new for 2026!

• Modern and Medieval Languages (French & Spanish)

• Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Engineering, Physics)

The series combines academic law lectures with sessions on the university application process and careers in the legal profession.

Delivered by King’s College London academics, student ambassadors and legal professionals, the programme offers insight into what studying law is really like and the wide range of careers available in the legal sector.
