King Louis called a meeting of the Estates General. It was the first meeting of the Estates General since 1614. He called the meeting because the French government was having problems financially. This is significant because a lot of people were working together because they needed to accomplish something and eventually made the Tennis court Oath.

The first estate was the clergy. They kept register of births, deaths and marriages, and they also had the power to put a tax of 10% which is called a tithe. The second estate is the nobility of France which is the royal family, except for the king. Members of the second estate do not have to pay taxes, but can collect taxes from the third estate, and they have special privileges like wearing a sword and being able to hunt. The third estate was everyone else including peasant farmers and the wealthy business class. The third estate had none of the rights or privileges as the other two estates.

8. Meeting of the National Assembly (1789-1791)

The National Assembly was a group who met periodically through this time and passed laws correcting past abuse and set up a government. This is significant because they passed laws that divided the country in 83 equal districts and elections for all officials in each district, they took and sold land owned by the church to pay off national debt, and in 1791 they wrote a Constitution, creating a new government (limited power of the king, 3 branches like US). This was a
belief because they believed that things should be done about the laws and government.

This event took place when a large group of women in a Paris marketplace began to revolt when the little amount of bread that was being sold was very expensive. This event is significant because it gave the revolutionaries confidence in the power of the people over the king. I think this event is a trigger because the high price of the bread made people very upset and caused them to revolt.

The declaration granted rights to some of the commoners but it excluded a big amount of the French population. This was significant because it became the basis for a nation of free individually equally protected by the law. I think that this is a condition because it left out certain people who were a part of the population.

This was significant because it was a violent attack on the government by the people of France which showed the start of the French Revolution. I think that this event is a belief because they were trying to show what they wanted by attacking.

The enlightenment is the period of time where people came up with new ideas about human existence, which included people's basic rights and the level of control they should have over their futures and their governments. This was significant because the enlightenment produced many books, essays, inventions, scientific discoveries, laws, wars, and it eventually became revolutionary. The enlightenment was the belief because the people had more knowledge and many new ideas.
