A road, without the fume of cars. 

A park, without the sound of children... 

But outside of the window, when dawn is just breaking, 

the sound of birdsong, the heart of a little bird aching 

for love, for life, for all things beautiful, 

That in the midst of chaos, comes something colourful. 

 

The streets are silent,  

and the doors are closed. 

The playgrounds are empty,  

But out of the silence, who knows? 

That when dusk comes you might hear 

the sound of paw steps, not the sound of fear 

The fox cubs are playing and the owls are on the hunt, 

The bats are out of their caves and the badgers sniff and grunt. 

 

It just goes to show, that even though we've paused, 

it won't stop those who walk on all fours. 

Those who swim and fly, 

and climb up high, 

the ones that jump and reach for the sky. 

Yes the birds still lay eggs 

and chicks still hatch 

And cats still look out for mice they can catch. 

The butterflies still dance amongst the flowers, 

So believe in yourself and in the power, 

of nature, of beauty, and in the fact that, 

even though we've stopped,  

nature has not.
