I have found that the ocean pollution not only has an effect on the animals but also the environment. Coral is being destroyed, sea animals homes are being destroyed, making it harder for the ocean life to survive. This then also has an effect on other environments and species. With less fish in the area, the species with quickly decrease having an impact on many other animals diets which they rely on. This can then cause a decrease in other animals and a decrease of effectiveness in other ecosystems.

Another solution is by The Ocean Clean Up. This is a similar product to the Plastic Fischer but instead of staying in one place it moves to continuously collect rubbish. This product is also found in the ocean not rivers. Their goal is to clean up majority of pollution by 2040.

C - combine with water filter so it also filter any toxic water at the same times

A - instead of the second solution being run by a boat, it has a self motor

M - modify them to have an area where they put the rubbish so it doesn't build up too much

P - use it to block animals way from any common rubbish dump and unsafe areas in the ocean

E - take away the fact that the second one moves, make it stationary instead

R - instead, block off the river and make small and direct tunnels through the land that the water travels through but rubbish cant get through

• Instead of Bovine Gelatin, we use agar gels which are derived from plants and are guaranteed to be halal+vegan, making our product more user-friendly. Agar gels and canubua wax are also generally stronger which is more suitable for our product. All ingredients are biodegradable.

What we need to change/do;

• Cut down the words on the slides because it can be a bit much when trying to read it all and listen

• We need to consider the manufacturing cost instead of just the ingredients cost

What we need to be more clear on;

• Carnauba wax is semi-waterproof so the straw last an hour before it starts to get soggy

• What makes us different = ingredients use agar instead of bovine gelatin and we are a social enterprise

• Talk about only being used for cold drinks but that's fine because hot drinks don't normally use straws

• The amount of words on a slide (too many words so it was a bit overwhelming and hard to focus on the slide and what new were saying at the same time)

A businessman from West Sussex has helped launched a fully recyclable paper crisp packet.

The British Snack Company's chief executive Tom Lock, from East Grinstead, says the paper crisp packet is the world’s first fully recyclable crisp packet.

He says the packaging uses an "innovative polymer" instead of conventional plastic,

Mr Lock said the packet was “something that consumers have been demanding for a long time”.

The packet, developed in partnership with Evopak, uses the polymer Hydropol, which was developed by Aquapk to be recycled, re-pulped and composted.

Hydropol is non-toxic and marine safe and will dissolve and biodegrade, Aquapak said .

Mr Lock said: “Brits consume more than 8bn packets of crisps each year, the majority of which are not recyclable and end up in landfill or incinerators – that’s a lot of waste and a huge environmental problem.

“We have created the first fully recyclable crisp packet – something that consumers have been demanding for a long time.”

This relates to our product because...;

Our snackable sips are already making harmful and toxic things and making a 100% sustainable substitute. It will dissolve and biodegrade safely and quickly, not harmful to earth, animals, human. The use of plastic straws and plastic chip packets is a lot and they are big contributors to pollution but by making an eco-friendly substitute a lot of waste will be reduced. Both of the products have user information to back u the need and want for this substitute.
