Sarah and Hope - A pink cup, Augie, & a lot of love

When my daughter Sarah died in 2016, after an almost 5-year adventure with cancer, our dear friend Hope gave each of us in our group a little toasting cup. On the 17th of every month, we raise those cups to remember Sarah. That toast has become a lifeline for all of us, a way to stay connected and be there for each other. We haven’t missed a month in 10+ years.

Hope faced her own health issues with humor and love. She also introduced us to AUGIE, her word for Angels, Universe, and Goddess. She added the “ie” at the end to make it a word. A reminder that we’re never alone. Hope died in 2026.

Both Sarah and Hope remain in our lives forever. Sassy, sweet, and each very much a badass. We love them with our whole hearts.
