I decided to pause the conversation and invite everyone to share their opinions. I asked the quieter participants if they wanted to contribute and gave them enough time to think and express themselves without putting pressure on them. I practised active listening, maintained open body language, and used empathetic and respectful language to make everyone feel comfortable. I understood that not everyone communicates in the same way or needs the same amount of time to participate. As a consequence, the conversation became more balanced and inclusive, and different perspectives were heard. This experience taught me that a simple pause can make a big difference, helping people feel respected, valued and included.
