We have busy playing in our Outdoor Provision and having a great time, playing with our friends and talking turns with our activities.

Some of our activities have included; mark making, using a variety of materials, from our Writing Shed. Using the equipment and playing the games in our Maths Shed. Also, enjoying imaginative play, with the trucks and ramps and not forgetting one of our most popular areas, building in the Construction Area.

In our Phonics, we have continued to learn to read and write, single letter sounds. The children are doing so well, and I am so proud of them.

In our Mastering Number work we have been subitising. Subitising is the ability to instantly recognise the number of items without counting them individually. We have been learning to recognise up to 3 objects automatically. To help us we played the game 3, or not 3.

In our writing, we have focusing on the correct letter formation for the sounds we know. We say the rhyme each time we write the sound and this helps us to form the letters correctly when we write them.

The children have been working so hard in all of their lessons this week. I am always amazed by how much we achieve together each week!

In Year 2 maths, the children have been practising counting forwards and backwards to 100. We have also used practical resources to make two-digit numbers, exploring how tens and ones work together.

In English, we have started reading our beautiful new book, Lubna and Pebble. The children each discovered a pebble waiting for them at their place! They explored the similarities and differences between their own pebbles and wrote labels describing them.

Our Taekwondo skills are improving so much each week with Miss Rowles! I am incredibly proud of the children's ability to follow instructions, try new things and step outside their comfort zones as they take part in a range of exciting activities.

The children continue to develop and strengthen their friendships through our classroom provision, and I am delighted to see such kindness, cooperation and teamwork shining through each day. Well done, Cherry Class, for another fantastic week!

This week, I've included more elements of how we make sure that our nervous systems are ready to learn and our sensory needs are met - every morning we have a dance to get our bodies ready for sitting down and listening. It's one of our favourite parts of the day. Organising tasks such as jigsaws support our learning of problem-solving as well as developing language and focusing our brains and bodies.

Each of us likes to do something different to calm - this could be lying down, wrapping ourselves up, playing with a favourite items, drawing, deep pressure, breathing exercises to name a few!

In our learning this week, we have been looking at number bonds to 5 as well as continuing to write with different implements.

In Writing, the children wrote a diary linking to 'The Barnabus Project' looking at the animals that have been created.

Our maths was based on adding/subtracting multiples of 10, and being able to count back and forth in those numbers.

Our RE was looking at inspirational people, and people who we admire, and linking this to how Christians look up to God and Jesus. Who is your hero?

Finally, in our Jigsaw, we have been creating a perfect school and created a class charter for us all to follow.

With the absence of most of Year 5 and Year 6 this week due to their residential, we have taken the opportunity to do some team building activities in our lessons.

For English and Maths, the children have been solving mysteries like detectives. Firstly by using their inference skills developed from reading, then by putting their maths knowledge to the test to break codes.

Our afternoons have been filled with our very own Taskmaster challenges. The children built towers, made shields, tested the flight of paper aeroplanes and put their alphabet knowledge to good use.

It has been great to see them put their minds together and play on each other's strengths!

Following the residential last week, our afternoons in Y5 and Y6 looked a little different. The children took part in a range of team-building challenges, giving them the opportunity to strengthen relationships, develop their teamwork skills and, of course, have lots of fun along the way!

Meanwhile, Y3 and Y4 enjoyed double forest school sessions! We absolutely loved exploring the fantastic activities organised by Wildlings Forest School. From relaxing in hammocks and playing on swings to fire building, toasting crumpets and making conker necklaces, there was something for everyone to enjoy!

These sessions provide so many valuable opportunities to develop practical skills, build confidence and work together, all while enjoying the great outdoors. What a lovely week of learning and making memories! 🌳🔥

Tasty Tuesday this week we made some delicious melty cheese and ham bagels that the children constructed themselves. We also had all of the chairs and materials out for the children to make dens!

Wednesday, we carried on with our 'world space week' theme and created some wonderful chalk space drawings, we also had a magnetic space game out for the children to play with too. To finish off the session the children played football and tag.

Thursday we celebrated 'National Octopus Day' with the children making some amazing crafts making paper plate Octopus'. We also had themed word searches and colouring sheets.

Film Friday we watched 'Wreck it Ralph' and ate hotdogs, tortilla chips and biscuits. A-lot of the children also enjoyed making Barbie clothes out of card and sticking different patterned napkins to make different outfits!

Your child is due their flu immunisation this term.
