Imaging & Printmaking is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary art course that guides students through a four-stage creative journey: Capture, Edit, Carve + Print, and Exhibit. Throughout the year, students master digital photography skills (focus, lighting, framing, and visual storytelling) and photo editing techniques, using their imagery as a foundation for traditional printmaking processes like relief block carving and Notan design. The course culminates in digital design challenges using Adobe tools and the creation of a professional webpage portfolio for the end-of-year art exhibition.

They then select their strongest photos to design a balanced 3"x3" texture grid, which is translated into printable black-and-white plans.

Finally, students safely carve their design into a relief block, produce proofs, refine their work based on results, and create a final relief print.
