Repetition and variation — Monster style

Enjoyed creating this simple 4-panel accordion. I used a Brush pen for my lines, color pencils, and a white gel pen for the barely visible wispy clouds. The covers were cut from a Herve Tullet board book. Love his whimsy. I think I’ll add part of a stray monster to the empty back pages.

Thanks Michele for the inspiration and prompt. I cheated and used a pre-made Khadi paper 'zig zag' booklet and stuck purple covers on it. I used Posca paint pens and a felt tip pen. So much fun!

Repetition without repeating. A raft of odd otters.

Questions?

Hello! I just want to see if any of you have questions for me. Also, if you're still on an earlier assignment, that is no big deal. You can still post what you're working on since everyone is working at their own pace.

Beaucoup de plaisir à jouer avec ce petit personnage!

Assignment #2

2026-10-13 23:17:21 UTC

So this one I sort of worked to death AND I loved making the little images. Instead of INK I used waxy crayons and got what I thought was a really nice effect. I got carried away trying to make something very cohesive.... that wasn't in the end. I want to try more of this image making.... We'll see! Love your touch Michele. thank you!

Lesson #1

Love doing this little accordion book. Not overworked and felt light all the way through. Sweet assignment! Thanks!(Cover was dotted Swiss fabric, sewn on. )

Lesson 4 and 5

janetdute — 2026-10-15 19:23:07 UTC

This is what I have done so far. It was helpfull to have a sketch- and notebook. Had the idea to make a following up on my previous mini 'book'. After too many associations I finally found my foothold and inspiration in a book called 'The top 5 regrets of the dying', written by Bronnie Ware. Felt good and joyfull to work on this project. Will be continued 😊

Happy Friday!

I'm just checking in with all you lovely people. Let me know if you have any questions! I know we cover a lot in two weeks, so don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions. If you're having trouble with text for your projects, one student on facebook is cutting out phrases from old books and it is working really well for her.

Lesson 6 First part

Yeahh, minibook is finished. A lot of 'work' but I really enjoyed the trip. And learned a lot. Thank you so much for all these inspiring lessons, Michèle.

Thanks everyone for sharing. (Sooner or later) Have fun 😊
