Breakfast club is £2 per session and After School Club is £8 per session.

Breakfast Club is open from 7.30am. In addition we also offer a free Breakfast Club from 8.10 until 8.40am.

In Willow Class we learn through play in areas of continuous provision. The children are settling so well into playing in all of the areas inside the classeoom. We encourage the children to be respectful of their classroom by "Choosing It, Using It and Putting Away!"

The children have been introduced to our Outside Classroom this week. These are areas of continuous provision, but outside. Our outside classroom is carefully planned and set up, to meet the children's needs and matches our curriculum.

The children have been introduced to an area at a time, the resources are modelled by the adults, and then the children have opportunities to explore and play in the areas. We are looking forward to spending more time in our outside classroom.

In our early writing, we have finished the work for our Story Saplings, "We're Going to Find the Monster" by writing a list of what we needed to take on the adventure. The children wrote the initial sounds of words in the list, using their phonics knowledge, and applying the sounds we know. E.g. m - ap / s -ock.

After crafting our wonderful sock puppets last week, we used describing words to bring them to life in English, working hard on our beautiful handwriting skills.

We have finished our Enrichment activity of Jigsaws, games and puzzles with Mrs Mcilroy, who was very impressed with how well we worked together. For the rest of the half term, we will be in the Forest for our Thursday afternoon enrichment, so please wear clothes ready for the mud!

In Maths, we have continued to look at making numbers to 10 with different equipment, such as Number Blocks, Numicon and plastic numerals 0-9.

One of our key priorities in Cedar Class is ensuring that our children are regulated and ready to learn and this can look different for every child. For some, this could be messy, sensory play; for others this could be drawing and colouring. We also use sensory circuits which has the elements of 'alerting, organising and calming' to help support children with being ready to engage in lessons. In the pictures above, you can see some of the different organising activities that we do in Cedar Class.

We have been learning about volcanoes in our Geography work, and understanding how they are formed-the children have found this really engaging!

In our writing, we have been using the book 'The Barnabus Project' to further our knowledge of noun phrases and have then moved onto imperative verbs to learn how to use command sentences.

In reading, we have continued learning about natural disasters, and moved onto tornadoes and hurricanes. This has been a really exciting project, and the children have enjoyed learning about the various natural disasters.

Finally, in our maths we have been learning about how to order and round numbers up to 5 digits.

In Maths, we have been learning about balancing equations for addition and for finding missing numbers. The class have used counters to show how both sides can still be equal with different figures added.

In English we have researched Kielder Water so that the children can create their own tourism brochure. They learned about all the activities that can be done there since the dam was built in the 1980s.

On Tuesday, our Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed exploring the forest alongside their year-group peers. They had a fantastic time getting stuck into the mud kitchen and working together to build dens. We’re already looking forward to our next session!

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have continued to demonstrate their growing swimming skills, with Mr Price reporting that everyone is working hard and making great progress in the water.

In our wider curriculum subjects, we have now finished our current Geography and History focuses.

With the Year 5 and 6 residential taking place this week, pupils in these year groups will be getting involved in some exciting teamwork activities during the afternoons. We can’t wait to see how they work together and tackle the challenges!

Tasty Tuesday this week, we made jam puff pastry twists which turned out great and were a big hit with the children. We also got all of our large materials and blankets out and built dens!

On Wednesday we played in a classroom for a little while in the home corner with the kitchen and dolls and did some colouring. When we returned to the hall we played a big game of tag.

Thursday, we went out into the forrest and did a 'wheres wally' scavenger hunt. When we come back in played 'duck duck goose' which was really fun.

For Fridays Movie night we watched Harold and the purple crayon' and ate pizza with hot chocolate and biscuits.

Your child is due their flu immunisation this term. To help us prepare, if you haven’t done so already, please complete your child’s consent form via the unique link/QR code below by day before school session.  You can choose either the nasal spray (recommended for best protection) or the injectable flu vaccine if required. We have a new computer system, if you don’t want your child to receive their flu vaccine, please complete their form with a NO to avoid receiving further messages/calls.
