Cornwall Park invites creatives and performers to take over iconic community spaces. Applications are now open for two exciting opportunities that will see local artists, performers and community groups bring Cornwall Park's much-loved spaces to life.

Cornwall Park is inviting expressions of interest for its Band Rotunda Takeover and new Gallery Takeover programmes, offering paid opportunities for creatives to connect with new audiences in one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's most iconic public parks.

Following a successful debut year, Cornwall Park is inviting local performers, community groups and cultural organisations to apply to perform in the Band Rotunda in a Band Rotunda Takeover. Each successful applicant will be paid $1000 for their performance. Last year's programme featured a diverse range of groups including Kra KoTo Kra, North Shore City Concert Band, 5AM, and Steel'n Beats, attracting over 2000 people collectively to watch them perform.

The park is also launching its inaugural Gallery Takeover programme, offering an artist or creative practitioner the opportunity to exhibit in the Lindo Ferguson Room at Huia Lodge Discovery Hub throughout the month of February 2027. To help bring their vision to life, the successful applicant will receive a $1000 contribution towards exhibition costs and can sell artwork commission-free throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Both initiatives aim to celebrate creativity, foster community connection, and encourage people to engage with Cornwall Park in new and meaningful ways.

"These initiatives are part of a wider park strategy to create the park as a platform for the community to see themselves reflected and express themselves creatively within the park environment. Last year's application process generated some amazing spin-off opportunities and relationships and we are really excited to see what applications come in this year."

Applications for the Band Rotunda

Gallery Takeover close on 18 October 2026.

For more information and application details, visit

https://cornwallpark.co.nz/takeover
