Have the lessons from CfE been learned?With CfE all the secondary schools went in their own directions and put loads of work into developing their own ideas and curriculum and then when the exam courses were shared, everyone had to do it all over again! It is much more helpful to see where QS want learners to go within subjects to be able to support their development.

The fact that it is being weaved across the curriculum means that action can be taken on it, it is becoming a 'huvtae!' (have to!) whereas up to now it's been very varied across Scotland. Connections can be made across the curriculum and across sectors to properly show how significant LfS is to education and all our futures. It could also encourage local authorities to take more action on LfS within their own communities (e.g improving recycling, or working towards sustainability goals for their communities) and can only serve to improve outcomes, not just for young people but for citizens across communities.

Some centres and local authorities have been focussed on LfS for some time, and are making real world changes. Other centres are still unsure what LfS actually involves. Such varied starting points will make it difficult to offer a consistent approach to embedding it in curriculums and communities.
