Our school is located in the centre of Thessaloniki, a large city in Northern Greece and the capital of Central Macedonia.
Near our school, there are a lot of blocks of flats, shops, other schools, libraries and public buildings. The streets are busy and there aren’t enough green spaces. You can find old Byzantine churches and other historical sites, such as the Arch of Galerius. Close to our school, there is the campus of Aristotle University, which is one of the biggest universities in Greece.

Our local environment is colourful, with its different shops and blocks of flats. It’s sometimes very noisy because of the heavy traffic. In summer, it’s hot and sometimes very humid, which can feel uncomfortable. In winter, it can get really cold, but unfortunately, it doesn’t snow very often.

One special feature of our area is that the city lies between the sea and the hills and mountains, including Mount Chortiatis. In the mountains, there is a forest called Seich Su, where jackals, foxes, wolves and wild boar live. Our city is built like an amphitheatre on hills overlooking the Thermaic Gulf. On a clear day, you can admire Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, across the gulf.

Our area is also known for the Vardaris, a strong, cold north-western wind that comes down from the valley of the Axios River and blows through Thessaloniki, especially in winter. It can make the city feel much colder and fresher.

... in the video you can see a cricket we found inside our school building. Nature is everywhere ...

Our city is Lille, a large city in the north of France and the capital of the Hauts-de-France region. Lille is located close to the Belgian border and is an important cultural, educational and economic centre. It is also well connected to other European cities such as Brussels, Paris and London.

In Lille, there are many houses, blocks of flats, shops, schools, universities, museums and public buildings. The city centre is busy and lively, with many people, cars, buses and bicycles. Lille is also famous for its beautiful historical buildings, such as the Vieille Bourse, the Grand Place, the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the Citadel.

Our local environment is a mixture of old and modern buildings, busy streets, parks and green spaces. Some parts of the city can be quite noisy because of traffic and the large number of people. However, there are also many places where people can enjoy nature, such as parks, gardens and the Bois de Boulogne around the Citadel.

The weather in Lille is often changeable. Summers are usually mild, although temperatures can sometimes become quite high. Winters can be cold, rainy and windy. It often rains throughout the year, but snow is not very common. The changing weather means that the plants and trees in the city change considerably with the seasons.

One special feature of Lille is its history and cultural diversity. The city has been influenced by different European cultures, especially French and Belgian culture. You can see this in the architecture, food, traditions and languages spoken in the area. Lille is also home to many students because of its universities and higher education institutions.

Even though Lille is a large city, nature is still present. Parks, gardens, trees and small green spaces provide habitats for birds, insects and other animals. Along the canals and in the larger parks, we can observe different plants and wildlife.

Our city is a good example of how people, buildings and nature can exist together. Urban areas can sometimes seem very far from nature, but if we look carefully, we can find many living organisms around us.

The Fartz Trail is located in the north of France, in the Hauts-de-France region. It is a natural area where people can walk and discover the local environment. The trail takes us away from busy roads and buildings and allows us to explore a quieter and greener part of our region.

Along the trail, there are fields, trees, bushes, grasses and small areas of woodland. There are also paths and open spaces where many different plants and animals can be found. The landscape changes with the seasons, so we can observe different colours, flowers, insects and birds throughout the year.

The local environment is generally peaceful, although we can sometimes hear cars, farm machinery or people walking along the paths. The weather in northern France is often changeable. It can be sunny and warm in summer, but it can also be rainy and windy. In winter, temperatures can be quite low and the vegetation changes considerably.

One special feature of the Fartz Trail is its biodiversity. The different habitats provide food and shelter for many living organisms. We can observe birds, insects, spiders, small mammals and many different species of plants. Trees and bushes provide places for animals to live, while flowers and other plants provide food for insects.

The trail is also a good place to understand the importance of protecting nature. Even small natural areas can provide important habitats for wildlife. By walking along the trail and observing carefully, we can discover how living organisms interact with each other and with their environment.

Dunkirk is an important port city on the North Sea and is part of the Hauts-de-France region. There are houses, blocks of flats, shops, schools and public buildings. The city has busy streets, but there are also many parks, gardens and green spaces. Dunkirk is especially known for its large beach and its long seafront. You can also find historical buildings and places connected to the city’s industrial and maritime history. The local environment is a mixture of urban areas, industrial areas and natural spaces. The port is an important part of the city and you can often see large ships, cranes and boats. The area can sometimes be noisy because of traffic, port activities and industry. The weather is often windy and changeable because the city is next to the North Sea. Summers are usually mild, while winters can be cold, rainy and windy. Snow is possible but not very common.

One special feature of our area is the sea. Dunkirk has a long sandy beach where people can walk, play sports and enjoy the fresh air. Around the city, there are also dunes and nature reserves, which are home to many different plants and animals. The nearby coastal environment is an important habitat for birds, insects and other wildlife.

Dunkirk also has an interesting history. During the Second World War, it was the site of the famous evacuation of Allied soldiers in 1940, known as Operation Dynamo. Today, the city is also known for its carnival, which is an important local tradition and attracts many people every year.

Our area is particularly interesting for studying the relationship between people and nature. The city has a large industrial and port area, but it is also surrounded by the sea, beaches, dunes and wetlands. This means that nature and human activities exist side by side.

Les Faiseurs de Bateaux is located near Saint-Omer, in the north of France, in the Hauts-de-France region. It is situated in the heart of the Audomarois marshes, a special natural area made up of canals, waterways, fields, meadows and small islands.

Near Les Faiseurs de Bateaux, there are many canals and waterways. People can travel around the marshes by traditional boat and discover a landscape that is very different from a city. There are also farms, gardens, small houses and fields. The area is peaceful and surrounded by nature.

The local environment is very green and rich in water. You can see many different plants growing near the canals and in the wetlands. Trees, grasses, flowers and aquatic plants provide habitats and food for many animals. The marshes are home to many birds, insects, fish, frogs and other small animals.

One special feature of this place is its traditional boats. Les Faiseurs de Bateaux is known for making and restoring traditional wooden boats used in the Audomarois marshes. These boats are part of the local history and show how people have adapted to living and working in a wetland environment.

The Audomarois marshes are also important for agriculture. For many years, farmers have used the land between the canals to grow vegetables and other crops. The waterways are therefore not only a natural environment but also an important part of the local economy and culture.

The weather in northern France is often changeable. In summer, the marshes are green and full of life, while in autumn and winter, the landscape becomes quieter and wetter. Rain is quite common, and the canals and wetlands are an important part of the landscape throughout the year.

Our visit to Les Faiseurs de Bateaux allows us to discover how people and nature can live together. The canals, plants, animals, boats and farms are all connected and form a unique local environment.
