Breakfast Club is open from 7.30am. In addition we also offer a free Breakfast Club from 8.10 until 8.40am.

We enjoyed our first school assemblies this week and Mr Parker was so impressed with all of the children who came up to the hall.

In our early writing, this week we have continued to make marks with "Oodles of Doodles" mark making patterns. Mark Making helps us to develop our early writing skills and helps us with our letter formation.

In our Story Saplings reasons to write, we have been drawing our own monsters, labelling it with our name, and using language to talk about the monster. We had some wonderful creations!

We have some Mini-Me's in our classroom! The children loved being introduced to their very own mini version of themselves! These are such a good way of promoting friendships and using our speaking and listening skills, through imaginative play. We are looking forward to lots of fun with our Mini-Me's!

We have started to read and write individual sounds in our Read Write Inc Phonics and the children have been trying so hard during these sessions.

The children were very happy to bring home their new new school book bags on Friday. These contain our reading packs and home learning activities. Please see the message on School Spider for more information about this.

The children have continued to build fantastic relationships with each other in all of our lessons. We have worked with a partner this week to order the events of Beegu chronologically to help us retell the story using past tense verbs. The children were then able to produced some lovely writing following this.

We have also launched Numbots in Cherry Class this week. We have been practising logging on with our individual details and taking part in some challenges!

The children enjoyed their forest session with Miss Lythgoe where they read the book 'Leaf Man', created some leaf rubbings, glued leaves and use oil pastels to create an image from their imagination.

In history, we have been looking at our own personal history. We have shared photos from home from when we were born and other special events in our lives. We spoke about events we all celebrate, birthdays and the significance of memories. Some of the children made 'memory boxes' to put their memories in.

In Maths we have continued to practise partitioning or 'splitting' and recombining numbers to 10 with the help of the Numberblocks.

We have also continued our art unit on mark-making; this week with chalk, as well as completing our 'Big Art' project by painting our rocket ship and listening to songs about rockets.

Each week more children are joining in with our carpet times and movement breaks which is so lovely to see. Our morning boogie is one of our favourite parts of the day!

In writing, we have started looking at 'The Barnabus Project' and in particular learning about noun phrases and how they can be used to describe.

We finished our art work, by using water colours and oil pastels to create a beautiful, colourful drawing based on the artist Yellena James.

Finally, in maths, we were looking at 10/100/1000 more/less and a number- a key skill which will help us further on in the year!

The class have also started a new History topic this week: The Vikings. We have been reflecting on how sources of information from the past can inform our understanding of how lives were lived.

It's been lovely to see how engaged the children are in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which we have been studying in our reading lessons. Encouraging a love of reading is so important and finding a text that the children love is a real treat.

Our Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed a successful trip to Liverpool’s World Museum, where they explored historical artefacts and learnt more about different periods throughout history. It was fantastic to see them engaging so enthusiastically with the exhibits.

Year 5 and 6 had another great swimming lesson this week. Mr Price reports that our Sycamore pupils are showing fantastic effort and enthusiasm in the water – well done, everyone!

We finished the week by completing the first cycle of our enrichment clubs. The pupils have really enjoyed taking part in a range of coding, poetry and drama activities, developing new skills and having lots of fun along the way.

In addition to this you have a change of winning the jackpot prize of £25000.

The school receives 60p from every £1 donated.

For Tasty Tuesday this week, we worked on our spreading skills as we filled our own delicious bagels with various toppings. The children did very well at this!

Wednesday, we did some really fun paper/card crafts and made our own bookmarks that go over the corner of the page. We added different animal decoration to these after we had folded them with some making theirs into chickens, bunnies and frogs!

Thursday the children requested to make notebooks that they could use for making colouring books or diaries. We also had out some autumn crafts supplies the children used to make cup monsters!

For Film Friday this week we watched 'Sonic 3'. We also had some new action figures that had been added to the collection that the children really enjoyed playing with.

Your child is due their flu immunisation this term.
