We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the families who completed the parent survey and shared such positive feedback about our school. We were incredibly proud to hear the inspector comment that it was one of the best parent survey responses she had seen. Thank you for your continued support and for your wonderful words about our school. We look forward to sharing the full report with you before half term.

This week also saw the appointment of our new Year 6 Ambassadors.

Twenty-one pupils successfully secured ambassador roles following a rigorous application process, which included completing an application form and taking part in an interview. We were incredibly impressed by their confidence, enthusiasm and clarity throughout the process. We are fortunate to have such talented young leaders at Sandfield, and I am looking forward to working with the ambassador team at our Open Day and other school events throughout the year.

Harvest Donations

This year our assembly will be taking place on 14th October 2026. Donations of tinned, packet or fresh food can be brought into school from Monday 12th October and put in the Learning Lab.

Thank you so much for any items you can give. These will be making their way to the local community after the assembly.

Another busy week in Reception!

The children continue to thrive, working together and getting to know one another. We read Elmer and discussed what it means to be unique. We learned that our differences make us special, and while we all enjoy different things, we discovered we have more in common than we think, even though none of us looks the same.

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

What a wonderful trip our Year 1 and 2 children had on our Guildford walk!

We started at the Guildhall and made our way to the statue of Alice and her sister before visiting St Mary’s Church, where we learned that it is the oldest building in Guildford.

We then followed in Alice’s footsteps, discovering more about Lewis Carroll and even seeing where he used to live. The children enjoyed learning so many fascinating facts before sketching Guildford Castle to finish our walk.

It was a fantastic day of exploring, learning and discovering our local history. What a lovely way to end such a busy week! Well done, Year 1 and 2!

PE days for Year 1 & Year 2 are on Mondays and Tuesdays 

Year 3 and 4 have been working hard on developing their place value skills.

They have been using tens counters, whiteboards and active practice to deepen their understanding and embed their learning. It has been fantastic to see their confidence growing already throughout our first maths unit!

Ahoy there, me hearties! Year 5 & 6 have embarked on a grand writing adventure inspired by Treasure Island.

The children have been stepping into the shoes of Jim Hawkins, crafting detailed diary entries that capture his thoughts, feelings and experiences throughout the beginning of the story. They have worked hard to develop their descriptive language, use ambitious vocabulary and write from Jim’s point of view. To complete their pirate-themed masterpiece, children carefully published their diary entries onto parchment paper, creating authentic-looking treasures worthy of any pirate’s chest! 

PE days for Year 5 & Year 6 are Thursdays and Fridays.

Thursday 1st October from 5.30pm, where parents will be able to have a tour of the school and attend a talk by the Head Teacher. (Talks are at 5pm, 6.15pm, 7.30pm)
