The changes in wording help teachers and students to focus on the key learning objectives, as the clarity of wording is very explicit.

  • Sufficient training is needed - not sufficient for other subjects

  • They are repeating what they should have learned in doing in CBA2 at JC - what is the value of the Data task component now, what is different other than a couple of new calculations or graphs?

  • High quality T&L of statistics benefits from quality digital technology. Disadvantages are obvious. Not a level playing field.

  • Topics for AAC and weight (30 and 10) not

  • How will marks be allocated via the grading rubric - three grade descriptors are not sufficient.

  • Possible suggestion: Instead of the current 30/10 allocation, we suggest 4 x 10% tasks: One for each of the core strands. This is less pressurise, and it can also celebrate a range of topics, one based on each strand. Suggestions:

    1. Statistics 2. Number and Algebra 3. Geometry/Trigonometry, 4. Relationships

  • These could be very well differentiated for OL, HL and FL.

Time is a huge issue in the mathematics classroom. Teach and assess this subject separately, this will allow time for the rest of the learning outcomes to be met under the subject of mathematics.
