This week the children have been settling into class, getting to know their new classroom, classmates and adults!

In English, we started to explore our new book incredible me and worked on mark making and in maths we explored counting!

We’ve also taken a look at the things we enjoy, helping the adults in class get to know what green class like best and gone on our first community walk!

It’s been a great first two weeks!

English: this week in English our focus has been on the book, the Colour Monster. With this we focused on exploring our emotions with a different emotion a day, working on our communication skills alongside this!

Maths: in maths we have been exploring big and small items and identifying particular items. We have explored many items inside and outside our classroom and worked together to work out whether we should class them as big and small!

This week was our MacMillan Coffee Morning, in preparation for this, green class worked hard on making some lovely fairy cakes for parents, though they were so delicious the kids couldn’t resist!

To finish our week, we did a community walk to the park, we had a blast on all the play equipment!

This week in English we explored our senses, having a day dedicated to each one, which of course meant to had to make and try some edible cookie dough for ‘taste day’!

In maths, we explored counting and matching numbers to quantities in order to practice some of our learning goals.

This week, we also worked on our personal independence by visiting the hub, a lovely little cafe. The children used communication boards to choose what they wanted to have, their cakes were a hit in green class!

As the weather starts to get cooler we’ve also explored some autumn staples, making art using leaves, conkers and sticks we have found around the area!

What a great week!

In maths, we explored different 2D shapes and their properties, focusing on how we identify them!

In phonics we took a close look at our set 1a sounds and also worked on using letters to spell our names, it was so much fun!

Our favourite part of the week was visiting the Botanic gardens! We had a lovely time in the park and loved so many different parts of it, especially the swings. We also got very lucky with the sun!

We have been busy bees in green class, with a very fun theme of pumpkins!

In maths we took time to really focus on the numbers 1-5, how to recognise them and how to count! But it couldn’t be done without some messy paint!

In music we had a great time tapping out some beats with a tambourine, practicing rhythm and patterns!

We loved all the pumpkins this week, exploring their textures, how they feel, taste and look as well as having to find some sneaky mini pumpkins hidden in our classroom!

How fast this term has flown!

Who can believe how fast this half term has gone!

We had a lot of Halloween activities this week, in maths we focused on counting amounts up to 5, strengthening our 1-1 correspondence!

In English, we really focused on mark making and making intentional marks on a page. Green Class loved doing this!

The Halloween fun was full swing this week, with some cauldron bubbles, spider paintings and Halloween trails!

What a brilliant first half term!
