I do framework activities one Friday per month. Try to do different activities using the framework activity cards. Also have guest speakers too

Photography Competition - Region 5

Since we can only have 2 people compete - all of my 3rd and 4th level student do the 5 units of study for the competition. This engages all students for Macro, Blended Light, Wildlife (non-domestic) and Panning. We begin in October and students showcase their work thus far so they kind of elect the best 2 to actually compete in Regionals. All students still do the resume and skills knowledge prep. Only the 2 that compete do the interview, but we are working on having interviews set up for those who do not compete with local professionals.

We get student involvement by hosting social events at the school for students to connect with friends, learn what SkillsUSA is about, and watch a movie with snacks and popcorn.

Photography local workplace connections and experience

Covering local activities, paid internships for events, social media days, headshots. Local photographers come and workshop with students and or participate in our field studies to demonstrate or help on site photo shoot techniques. Later they come and discuss workflow like culling, edits and timelines.

It's really great to see the interactions with these professionals and see students take on projects in a lead or assistant role.
