When the planet is threatened by a new, more deadly danger, the Iron Man returns the kindness by protecting humanity.

After half term we will begin reading The Girl Who Stole an Elephant which follows the journey of a mischievous girl in Sri Lanka whose actions lead to dire consequences for one of her friends.

Story maps support children through visual, verbal and physical cues. The actions are not intended to represent every single word. Instead, they should help children internalise:

the meaning of the text

key vocabulary

sentence structures and language patterns

connectives and story flow

important events and sequencing

The actions act as memory prompts and help children retain the structure of the text so that they can retell it confidently and fluently, providing a strong foundation for innovation and independent writing.
