Reading Expectations

Our school expectation is that pupils will read 5 times per week.

This is monitored by staff in school and at the end of each half term, pupils who have consistently read will be rewarded for their tremendous effort.

If any parents require support getting logged into 'Boom Reader' can access this each Wednesday morning at the start of the school day.

Supporting Learning from Home

We have subscribed to a fantastic website called 'Phonics Play'. On the website you will find a wide range of fun Phonics games to play with your child at home. These games are available for all children but are best suited to those children who are learning Phonics in school. Please speak to your child's class teacher if you would to know the exact Phase your child is working at.

Term Time Holidays | Penalty Notices

Please find attached the information regarding taking holidays during the school term. This guidance is provided to school from the Local Authority. We will keep this item on the newsletter as a standing item and as a reminder to all families.

I would like to remind families that if they are choosing to take a holiday during term time that they ensure that they notify school that they are absent with the genuine reason for absence. It is important that we know this for safeguarding matters.

What an amazing week we’ve had! 🌟It has been another busy and brilliant week in school, and it has been wonderful to see our children working hard, enjoying their learning and making us proud.

A huge shoutout to our fantastic Year 3 children, who are now in their second week of swimming and are absolutely smashing it! 🏊 Their confidence, determination and enthusiasm have been wonderful to see – keep up the great work, Year 3!

We’ve got lots to look forward to next week, including Class Photo Day on Wednesday. 📸 Please make sure everyone comes to school looking their very best – smart uniform and shiny smiles at the ready!

We are also supporting Wigan & Leigh Foodbank and would be incredibly grateful for any donations our families are able to make. Donations can be brought into school and handed to class teachers. Every contribution, big or small, will help support families in our local community. ❤️

Thank you, as always, to our children, families and staff for making our school such a special place. Have a wonderful weekend, and we’ll see you all next week for another fantastic week together!

We are incredibly proud of three of our lovely children who have taken on the amazing challenge of walking 10,000 steps every single day to raise money for Cancer Research. 💕🚶‍♀️We are delighted to share that they have reached their fundraising target! What a fantastic achievement and such a thoughtful thing to do for an important cause. Your determination, kindness and commitment have been wonderful to see. A huge WELL DONE from all of us at Leigh St Peter's - you should be very proud of yourselves! 🌟💖👏
