As a Kitchen Assistant, you are at the heart of our operation and we are looking for individuals who share our energy and passion and will contribute to our ongoing success. You'll be working in a team full of fantastic people as a Kitchen Assistant. Undertake basic food preparation Maintain the cleanliness of all kitchens and surrounding working areas Ensure the correct use of all machinery and equipment Assist as an when required with the loading or unloading of deliveries & supply vehicles Perform other general tasks to support effective food service delivery as reasonably requested Comply with all client and company health & safety procedures and standards It doesn't matter if you've never worked as a Kitchen Assistant before. What does matter to us the most, is taking pride in what you do and a willingness to learn.

We are looking for 1 position- 20 hours, Monday- Friday term time only. Pro rate wage £12.71 per hour

We are delighted to share the fantastic news that Chailey School has been awarded £1,500 through the Tesco Stronger Starts programme, the highest grant available.

The award was made following a public vote in local Tesco stores, where customers chose projects they felt would have the greatest impact on their communities. Voting took place between 28 April and 31 July 2026, with millions of votes cast across the UK.

As in the past two years, the funding will be used to enhance our careers programme and provide students with valuable opportunities to explore future education and career pathways. In particular, it will help fund our Open Doors careers visits, delivered in partnership with the East Sussex Careers Hub, enabling students to visit employers, workplaces and training providers to gain first-hand insight into the world of work. The grant will also support careers guidance activities that help students make informed decisions about their post-16 options.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Tesco and Groundwork for their generous support and for providing funding opportunities that make such a positive difference to young people.

Most importantly, we would like to thank our parents, carers, staff, students and members of the wider school community who took the time to vote for our project. Your support helped us secure the maximum award available, and this funding will have a lasting impact on the opportunities we can offer our students.

My name is Mr Steven Arroyo and I run Affinity TKD. I teach Taekwon-Do classes for all ages in

East Sussex and have an established school which has been running for 13 years.

We run an after school club at Chailey during term time on Mondays in the sports hall 3.30pm-

4.30pm and anyone who wishes to trial the classes are very welcome to see what it's all about and

give it a try.

The trial is for 4 weeks at a cost of £30. This isn't limited to just the school sessions, so if anyone

wishes to attend my general sessions outside of the school in addition then they can do this at no extra

charge. My classes (and more info on Taekwon-Do and the instructor) are listed on my website

Parents and carers play a vital role in helping young people make informed choices about their future. To help us better understand how we can support families, we are inviting you to complete the Your Child's Future questionnaire.

The survey explores parents' and carers' confidence in discussing careers, understanding post-16 and post-18 options, and awareness of the careers support available at Chailey School. Your feedback will help us strengthen our careers programme and ensure we provide the information and guidance that families need.

Representatives from all of our local colleges were joined by employers, apprenticeship providers and training organisations, giving students the chance to ask questions, gather information and learn more about the routes available to them. From A Levels, vocational qualifications and T Levels to apprenticeships and employment opportunities, there was something to interest every student.

We were also pleased to offer a quiet session from 10.00am to 10.30am, enabling students who benefit from a calmer environment to engage with exhibitors and conversations at their own pace.

Events such as our Careers Fair play an important role in helping young people make informed decisions about their future. Speaking directly to employers and education providers helps students broaden their horizons, challenge assumptions, develop confidence and gain a better understanding of the qualifications, skills and experiences needed for different career paths. These conversations can be invaluable in helping students identify opportunities they may not have previously considered.

A huge thank you goes to all of the exhibitors who generously gave their time to support our students, and to the members of staff who helped with the planning, organisation and smooth running of the event. Their support ensured that students were able to gain the maximum benefit from this valuable experience.

We hope that students left the event feeling inspired, informed and excited about the many opportunities available to them as they begin planning their next steps.

What a brilliant week we have had here at Chailey School! Our Year 7s have been busy today with their interform House challenges, and have been representing their Houses well. They've been solving mysteries and showing off their sporting prowess; some great team work all round. 

Our older year groups experienced our careers fair where they heard from 37 different exhibitors about apprenticeships, college courses, jobs, and university. It is safe to say students took a lot away from the event, including some goodie bags!

We also want to thank everyone who attended the welcome to Key Stage 4 information evening, we hope the information was useful in getting your child ready for their GCSEs.

Finally, next Thursday evening we open our doors to Year 6 students and their families. I want to thank volunteer students in advance for showing the very best of Chailey and how everyone can be the best that they can be.

At Mayfield, we believe that financial circumstances should never be a barrier to educational opportunity. To support this commitment, and through the generosity of our alumnae community, we have launched the Cornelia Connelly Sixth Form Scholarship, a fully funded Sixth Form place for academically able and ambitious young women from families with limited financial means. 

The scholarship provides 100% fee remission, enabling talented students to access the academic, enrichment and university preparation opportunities available within our Sixth Form. It is intended for students with strong academic potential, a positive approach to learning, and aspirations to make the most of the opportunities open to them. I am conscious that there may be students in your current Year 11 cohort whose talent and potential are exceptional, but for whom a fee-paying education would not ordinarily be accessible. We would be very grateful if you would consider whether any students might benefit from this opportunity and, where appropriate, bring it to the attention of them and their families.

It is an ideal introduction to the independence, support and exceptional opportunities that define a Mayfield education. 

Sixth Form Taster Day (Thursday 8 October 2026) 

Year 11 students will attend lessons in subjects they may be considering for A Level study, meet teachers and current students, and gain a first-hand insight into our vibrant and ambitious Sixth Form community.
