         <description><![CDATA[<p>Throughout the first half of the Autumn term, we will learn the story, Meerkat Mail. The children will retell the story using appropriate voice choices, making their storytelling exciting and engaging. They will imitate and learn the story off by heart before innovating it by changing the characters and key details. The children will then write their own independent stories with a focus on setting, since the character in Meerkat Mail visits many settings in the story.</p><p><br/></p><p>Later on in the term, pupils will explore elementary features of persuasive writing in order to write letters. Finally, we will finish off the term with a poem and some poetry performing! </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>To support your child at home please can you :</strong></p><ul><li><p>Support your child with writing simple sentences at home. Ensuring they are using capital letters and full stops as well as leaving appropriate spacing between the words.</p></li><li><p>Support your child with retelling the class model text using the text map that will be posted on Teams.</p></li><li><p>Ensure your child is forming their letters correctly as well as number digits. Daily handwriting practice will help with this.</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We will start Planet Omar as a class reader. The children will read other texts linked to the themes in the story. The story British-Muslim boy named Omar. when his family relocates for his mother's new job, Omar struggles to adjust to his new school and faces prejudice from a playground bully. </p><p><br/></p><p>In the second half of Autumn term, we will read Pugs of the Frozen North. Pugs of the Frozen North follows Shen and Sika as they travel across a frozen landscape with sixty-six pugs. They race through icy dangers, meet strange creatures and face challenges while trying to reach the North Pole and win the Great Northern Race.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>To support your child at home please can you :</strong></p><ul><li><p>Support your child with talking to them about the story.</p></li><li><p>Use 'Epic' to read books about frozen places on earth. This website has lots of brilliant online books and even has a quiz at the end.          <description><![CDATA[<p>This term in maths we will be looking place value of 2 digit numbers. The children will learn to read and write numbers in words and digits. The children will use this to then add and subtract numbers to 100. </p><p><br/></p><p>Next half term, the children will learn various methods for adding and subtracting numbers within 100, both 1 and 2-digit numbers.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Art</p><p>Exploring how artists use tone and texture, and applying these techniques in observational drawings. The children will create their own pieces of work. </p><p><br></p><p>DT</p><p>Later on in the term the children will be building a rotating fairground wheel with a free-standing structure, this unit offers a simplified wheel design made from repurposed materials and an additional lesson where children design and conduct a survey to gather opinions.</p>]]></description>
