We are delighted to introduce our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) for this academic year. The team is made up of elected representatives from Years 3 to 6 who proudly act as the voice of the pupils at Sandfield.

The JLT meets regularly to share ideas, discuss ways to improve school life, and help bring about positive changes across the school community. Through their leadership role, members work collaboratively to ensure that pupils' views are heard and valued.

Their current project focuses on enhancing our outdoor spaces. The team is gathering ideas from pupils about new playground markings and is helping to select new seating and tables for the playground. We look forward to seeing their ideas come to life and making our playtimes even more enjoyable for everyone.

This week, our Reception children flew through their first full week of school. What a fantastic achievement!

They have amazed us with how well they have settled in and have shown that they can be ready, respectful and safe. It has been wonderful to see how engaged each child has been in provision, exploring and enjoying all areas of learning. They have especially loved using our bikes and trikes, as well as our brand new gravel pit!

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

Year 1 and Year 2 have started our new Geography unit, ‘Glorious Guildford’, and have had great fun sharing all the things they love about our town – with the parks and coffee shops proving particularly popular!

The children have been learning to locate Guildford using atlases and maps, as well as exploring the town using iPads and Google Earth. 

PE days for Year 1 & Year 2 are on Mondays and Tuesdays 

This week, Year 3 and 4 have been learning all about staying safe online and also how we behave when we are using devices.

They have been brilliant at recognising how important it is to be respectful to others just as they would be in real life. They are also learning what to do if there is a problem when using a device and Year 3 have been creating their own online safety rules. Year 4 have also been discussing the positives and negatives of being online and how to work out if a website is a reliable source of information. Good work everyone!

PE days for Year 3 & Year 4 are Tuesdays & Fridays

As part of our new Geography unit on trade, Year 5 and 6 explored what goods countries import and export and discussed why countries trade with one another.

The children discovered where everyday products come from and how countries are connected through trade. Using trade data, they also produced some fantastic bar graphs to compare imports and exports. It has been a brilliant start to the new term - well done everyone!
