Hi everyone, I am Sayedul Amin, a Community Health and Nutrition Worker in Gonoshasthaya Kendra-GK, UNHCR who has been working there for almost four years. I am from Chinkhali, Rathedaung Township, Arakan State, Myanmar formerly known as Burma. Recently, I am living in the world's largest refugee camp in Bangladesh by escaping the genocide in 2017. I have completed my matriculation from a well-known community based school namely New Moon Community High School located in camp 03 in 2021. Since then, I have kept an eye on educational opportunities to pursue higher education further, but due to limited opportunities, I did not get any chance. As a dreamer, I always wanted to be a health specialist which still remained unfulfilled; however, I got a privilege here to fulfill my aspiration. I am so excited to be a part of this team and looking forward to starting my new journey with you all. Thank you.

My name is Mohammed Shamim. I was born and raised in the peaceful landscapes of Buthidaung Township in Arakan State, Myanmar a place that will always hold a special piece of my heart.

In August 2017, due to the harsh realities of persecution in my homeland, I had to embark on a difficult journey to find safety. That path led me to Bangladesh, where I now reside in Camp 21 in Cox's Bazar as part of the Rohingya refugee community. Though leaving home was heartbreaking, living here has taught me the true meaning of resilience, hope, and human connection.

Driven by a deep wish to care for those around me, I began working with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a Community Health Worker in September 2023. Every day, I have the gentle privilege of walking alongside my community, offering healthcare support, comfort, and a listening ear.

Through every challenge, I carry a passion for service, learning, and bringing warmth and healing to the lives of others.

Hello everyone, it is a great pleasure to meet you all. My name is Monjur Alam, and I'm originally from Northern Maungdaw Township (Burma) Myanmar & Currently I'm residing in Camp-4, Kutupalong, Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, where I have been actively engaged in community-based health and humanitarian work within the Rohingya refugee community.

I began my journey in public health in 2019 as a Contact Tracing Volunteer with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), in partnership with WHO, supporting COVID-19 case follow-up and health education. I later served as a Psychological & Case Management Volunteer with Caritas Bangladesh, providing psychosocial support and case management to vulnerable beneficiaries in the local Rohingya language. Since 2023, I have been working as a Community Health Worker (CHW) with Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) and Community Partners International (CPI), conducting household and community-level outreach on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), ANC/PNC, immunization, family planning, WASH, and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.

Alongside this fieldwork, I am currently pursuing my studies at the University of the People, and I have completed several trainings in emergency medical support, maternal and child health, hygiene promotion, and psychosocial and child protection topics all of which have deepened my commitment to equitable, community-centered healthcare.

I am truly honoured to be joining this Community Health Advance Course at the University of Geneva, and I look forward to learning from Prof. Karl Blanchet, the esteemed lecturers and practitioners, and my fellow participants, while sharing the realities and lessons from my own community. I am excited for this learning journey and to getting to know you all.

Thank you.
