Maíra Padgurschi is a biologist and head of Biodiversity Conservation at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials/CNPEM with a diversified professional career. She is a member of the scientific and management committee of the AmazonFace Program, where she co-leads the socioenvironmental research area, and of the Brazilian Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services/BPBES. She holds a doctorate (2014) from the University of Campinas/Unicamp and two postdoctoral fellowships (2018 and 2022). She was also a researcher associated with the Center for Indigenous Amazon Studies/NEAI-UFAM and has done several consultancies on socioenvironmental issues and climate change, including for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ/Brazil) and the International Institute of Education of Brazil (IEB). With a focus on the interaction between humans and non-humans via sociobiodiversity, using the approach of ecosystem services and nature's contribution to people, Maíra also supervises master's dissertations and doctoral theses at Unicamp.
