It has been wonderful this week to welcome our new Reception children to Sandfield. They have been an absolute delight. So positive, so enthusiastic and so confident as they begin their journey with us.

I know the Reception team have been incredibly impressed with the way the children have settled into school, quickly learning new routines and embracing our Sandfield rules of being ready, respectful and safe.

The children enjoyed a tour of the school yesterday and had the opportunity to meet children from across all year groups. It was lovely to see their excitement and curiosity as they explored their new surroundings.

We are all so excited to get to know each and every child and to watch them grow and flourish as part of our Sandfield family. We look forward to sharing in their learning, achievements and special moments throughout the year ahead.

We are also very pleased to welcome our new Midday Supervisors, Mrs Debbagh and Mrs Peters to the Sandfield Team!

This week, our Reception children began their half-day settling-in sessions.

They have done absolutely brilliantly and have blown us away with how well they have settled in. Friday was their first day together as a little team of 30, where they enjoyed lunch and playtime with the rest of KS1. We can't wait to welcome them back next week for their first full week of big school!

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

This week we launched our Alice in Wonderland topic.

We discovered that somebody had been having a tea party in our classroom and left our classroom in a mess! We looked around carefully for clues to find out who had been in our classroom. We have been having lots of fun this week, completing activities relating to Alice in Wonderland. 

PE days for Year 1 & Year 2 are on Mondays and Tuesdays 

What a fabulous start to our new school year! Year 3 and 4 have started to get to know each other in our first phase assembly together and are settling into life in LKS2. We thought that some team building activities and a joint P.E session would also help the classes to mix and to learn how to work as a team through good communication skills. It was lovely to see so much resilience, kindness and patience in action! Well done everyone!

PE days for Year 3 & Year 4 are Tuesdays & Fridays

In Maths, Years 5 and 6 have been revisiting place value to strengthen their understanding of numbers. We have been using number lines and place value grids to explore six-digit numbers and identify the value of individual digits. They have shown great confidence when reading, comparing and partitioning numbers, demonstrating a secure understanding of place value.

PE days for Year 5 & Year 6 are Thursdays and Fridays.
